Al Nakasone, of Chicago, Illinois built this cool Honda Penton hybrid because he needed an Sachs engine sidecover.  Al spotted the sidecover he needed at a swap, but the seller wouldn't separate it from the Penton gearbox & frame it was attached to.  No problem.  Al bought the bottom end and chassis and dragged it home.  He then popped off the cover he needed and was hauling the rest out to scrap when he said to himself, "Hey, I can use this!"

Al sat the frame up on his workbench, then pulled out a 125 Honda 4-stroke engine from a pile of project TL125 Trials bikes he had on hand.  Even a preliminary eyeball-evaluation told him the motor would fit, so he proceeded to mock up some motor mounts - first in cardboard, then in sheet steel, and finally in 14 gauge metal.  Then, after fitting in a TL swingarm by way of machined-up spacers, Al assured final alignment and then welded up his mounts.

Along the way, the stock TL engine was punched out to 175cc and fitted up with a complete Poweroll cam/performance kit.

Next, Al decided to do something special with the bike's front end.  He cut off the Penton frame's head stock, welded in a steering stem from a Sachs' chassis, and installed a Sachs leading link front suspension assembly.

Final touch was a Steel Tanker fuel tank, obtained from Buehner Supply.  End result is a cool, fun, functional woods bike, which Al says suits his short stature just fine and runs awesome.  Pretty cool.
