Several POG members are heading to Bonneville in mid August in the quest of some good family fun and a possible speed record. Conrad Pfeifer along with his cousin Dave Stype and another cousin Dick, who's last name I don't know, are looking to see what top speed they can attain from their 250cc Triumph.

Conrad and his cousins have enlisted the help of non other than "Crazy" Jake Fischer for their quest. Jake initially was just doing the tuning of the Triumph for the record setting attempt, but from what I have heard he is now going to be the rider. Given the fact that Jake used to pull some mighty MPH from his drag racing Vincent he should be more than capable of extracting everything the Triumph has to offer.

The gang will be flying some POG colors while on the salt and hopefully they will meet some fellow Penton enthusiasts.

   Good luck guys...

Thank you Paul Danik, my wife has found out about my trip to the Utah Salt Flats to race a dumb motorcycle so - for the next month I will be sleeping with my new companion - a l968 250cc Triumph.  She knew I was sneaking around for about four months getting this bike ready for an older man who wanted to restore the bike to bring it back to life as we do with the old Pentons.  Now that she found out that it's not true, I am now sleeping with the Triumph for the next month.  When she asked me why I'm going to Utah I replied "Conrad Pfeifer and I are going the the Mormon Tabernacle Cathedral to learn some new hymns for our local congregational church"

When is this event taking place. I may be inclined to take a road trip to visit a school buddy in Salt Lake. I could kill two birds with a few tanks of gas. I've always wanted to meet the legendary Jake fisher.

Jake,

I am sorry if I let the proverbial cat out of the bag, but I have great faith in your ability to get back in the good graces of your better half, surely by now you have a lot of experience in that area :D

My daughter said she saw Conrad in Target yesterday, they do have a rather large selection of those spandex wind resistant outfits, could he have been looking for an outfit for you to wear on your run down the salt?

All kidding aside, what you guys are doing is awesome. For Conrad and his cousins to want to gather at such a famous venue, mostly for the chance to just spend quality time together while following their life long passion for motorcycles. And for you to be willing to not only prep the machine for them, drawing upon all of your years of experience working on and racing everything from Vincents, to Greeves and Huskies, as well as Pentons and who knows what all, and to also be willing to make the runs, WOW, truly awesome. My hat is off to you all..

I have heard a few stories about some test runs, possibly after the statue of limitations runs out they can be told.....

For those who may want to come to Bonneville and watch a still very fast and very carzy Jake make a run. The dates for the runs are August 17,18,19. The team name is  The ISOLATOS". Look for the POG tent.

I just thought of something..the combined age of the bike and rider is 30 more than the speed record we are attempting to break.
