On my '77 250 I can clearly see the manufacturer of the rear tire, Metzeler, 5.0x17 motocrosser.  The front tire I cannot make the manufacturer but find 3.25 - 2.15 - 26.  Can anyone help with information on tire sizes and tube replacements?  Thanks.

Back in the 70's, different wheel sizes were tried and a 17" rear wheel was one of things that was tried.  Some of the Husqvarna's came from the factory with 17's.  I would imagine if your bike has a 17" rear that somebody laced that up.  I have no idea what availability there is for 17" tires now.  You would probably be better off going back to an 18".

Thanks for the info.  I'm fine with whatever I need to do, I just need to know what options I have besides new rim and tire.  Is patching a no-no on the tube?  And does anyone know if there are still 17 inch tubes available?  The tire is only a little worn, and appears to be still operable.  Any info is helpful.

I agree with Rocket....but if you must use a 17" rear, Go to //www.discountmotorcycletire.com
then Dirt Bike tires.....
then Cheng-Shin brand....or Kenda brand. They both have a few rear 17's to pick from....

Thanks for the info.  I'm not trying to be stubborn and demand a 17 inch rear, it's just that it's already on the bike now and for my situation is better than new tire and rim.
