curnutt information

I have several pages of information regarding rebuilding my curnutts but I am looking specifically for specs. on the sizes of the the o rings, seals etc.  also any ideas on where to find grommetts for the eye's
what would also be nice is where I might find replacement springs.

Hi Thom,There's a guy who advertises on Mark's vintage mx swapmeet who used to work for Charlie Curnutt and rebuilds and has parts for Curclunks.I think he lives in 29 Palms or Morongo Valley,Ca.Maybe Scott Molnar but not positive.If it's not Scott he may know who it is.Good Luck,

Thom- have rebuilt several of the standard Curnutts with low cost seals from local bearing shop, o-rings and eye inserts from hardware store parts. Pretty easy. Only dead end is on replacement springs, never found a source. Pre-load spacers helps for vintage set up, but much too soft for us big boys in laid-down position.  Jon

Thanks Mac, I have a set that at some point I want to rebuild but I was also wanting to help a friend who has a set that he wants to rebuild. I imagine it will be one of his vintage Husky's As for me, the plan is to put them on a vintage bike possibly a square barrel. Still I am sure that the springs will be too soft for us big guys.  I have a set of Fox gas shocks that are on my 76 and they work great, I finally found a set of NOS springs for them that made them stiff enough to make the bike ridable.

For custom suspension springs, I have used "Cannon Racecraft" for many years, they will build any fork or shock spring, tell them the i.d. o.d. length and rate needed. Great people to work with, they build most of the springs for  major suspension companies Phone # 405-524-7223
