Shock Options?

Looking for some shock opinions, I know this topic is on par with religion, politics and what oil we use, but I will put it out there anyway.

I picked up a decent rider this past weekend (74 400) and it came with no shocks.  I know the general consensus is that Works Performance makes the best shocks for our bikes, but money wise I just can't justify spending $550-$600+ plus on a pair of shocks that will mostly get used on the back roads and maybe a couple of NETRA vintage events.  The other extreme being I don't want to waste my money of a pair of crappy Chinese shocks that look nice but are complete garbage.

So I am looking for a decent middle of the road shock.  I saw some Betors on Ebay, but I think they may be a tad too long (14.2" / 360MM) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-Shocks-Absorbers-Betor-Gas-for-Motocross-MX-Enduro-Classics-360mm-/310694254822?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4856d218e6&vxp=mtr

I also saw these http://www.speedandsport.com/index.php?cID=146 at Speed and Sport.  Anyone running these?

Another option is Hagons http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/HAGON_TWIN_SHOCKS.html I have used the P2 multiple times in the past and with no issues.

Just trying to get an idea of what others are using, what is decent and what should I stay away from.  Ideas?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin, I have a pair of progressives on a 73 husky I have. They are OK. Not great and not bad. I think they were around 200 bucks. Riding the bike as little as you say, they would be great shocks for you.

Dale / Kip,

I called a few different places today but ended up going with a set of Hagon's again.  This time the UDMX model with some heavy duty springs.  Basically the same amount money as the Progressive's. I will see how they work out.  If I don't like them I will save them for another project and try out a pair of the Progressives.

Thanks,

Kevin

After speaking directly with the owner of NJB here in the UK, I purchased a pair NJB Clubman for a 74.5 Jackpiner that were built to my weight specs for MX racing. When I received them they looked sub-standard duty with a small diameter shaft and body. I gave them the benefit of the doubt until they were put to the test by my son weighing 30 lbs less than me. The end result... I felt over-sold and under promised on the product as they bottomed out on the bumps on the flat straights.
