Hi Skip,
Beautiful bike!! What color paint did you use on the frame?

Thanks, Steve

Thanks Steve.  Motor is coming in a few days and I'll be getting closer.  I stopped powder coating my frames because I couldn't make any adjustments during re-assembly without damaging the finish.  Now I like to use spray cans in the driveway.

I like duplicolor bgm 0540 light slate metallic and if you do a search Mike Winter uses Duplicolor Lacquer DAL1679 silver metallic and Spraymax 2K 3680061 Urethane.  Mike's usually spot on with his recommendations.

The kickstand was so loose and wobbly when I put it back together and I never noticed it when I took it apart.

A litter persuasion with the hammer.

And it works perfect.

Hi Skip,
Thanks for the reply on the paint. I also paint all restorations and do not powder coat, I keeps it more original. So far How do like the motor from Chi Jerry?

Thanks, Steve (1976 KTM MC400)

Had a great Saturday morning putting the bike back together.  Things went pretty smoothly in just few hours.

Jerry said to try installing the motor from the right side.  Learn something new everyday.

I'd never get a job in the factory installing pipes.  If I have to sand and paint this one more time.

Next was the carb, then chain and rear brake assembly

followed by the electrical.

And then it starts looking like a bike again.  The body work

Busy day today, but if I get time it's just cut the chain,  fuel lines and fluids in motor and forks, then go riding.

Last Monday I finished up the chain and fuel line.  Filled the forks and gear box then kicked it over for the 1st time.  After a few kicks and no start I pulled the ground wiring and two kicks later it fired right up.  Ran it up and down the drive, but it wouldn't idle when I got back to the garage.  The carb sat on the workbench for 4 months and I never took it apart or even looked at it.  Well this morning I had time to hook up a new kill button, clean the carb, and check out the head light circuit.  Here's what it sounds like.

I'd like to thank a number of POG people that made this all happen
Bob (ristallone) for the gas tank
Mike Winter for the pipe and tons of info.
Skip Miller for decals (I have a second set "KTM" to make a
                        blue bike)
Al B for more parts that I can think of.
Chicago Jerry for the engine.  (My wife took off on it and ran up
the street in traffic, came back with a smile so I did
           the same.  Runs great.
Rod Gorzny with the beautiful shock rebuild
And especially the POG site to be able to look up all the photos and info search and see how everyone else has done this.

I'm sure there are a few more and thank you too.  Can't wait to get in the dirt.  Coming soon.......

Thanks and it would have never happened without this site.

I forgot a person that provided a lot of parts and even made a custom speedo cable for me 1/2 way around the world, Andre Horvath, thank you too.
