Gang:

I'm betting somebody else has run into this same issue before. Sent a set of handlebars to the chrome shop. Got them back Saturday, looked great. Mounted them on the bike. Tried to put the original  brake and clutch perches and throttle tube on, but no go. The bars were 7/8 inch but now are essentially 1 inch diameter. I should be able to hone the Magura perches to fit,  but the throttle tube on my bike is steel and roughly the same diameter as the bars. Same with the kill switch. Any suggestions? Might plastic throttle tubes be thick enough to shave material from the inside and still be functional?

Wow...never heard of chrome plating being quite that thick...thought it was just a few thou...
Anyway, I had a similar problem with a set of "repop" bars for a vintage Triumph restoration...the throttle would not slide onto the end of the bars.
I carefully measured the length of the throttle on the bars, masked off the end mark...and simply went to work on the end of the bars with sheets of sand paper.
Yes...it was a pain in the rear...but it worked...
But I'm sure I didn't have to remove the amount of (chrome) material you are suggesting you need to do.

Big difference between show chrome and regular.  I ask for the thin regular at my shop.

Thanks for the comments. I really don't want to have to remove new material, but that may be the only choice.
