Reluctantly this 250 Penton needs a new home. My health is such that I can't start the bike, (right hip replacement.) What few kicks I had in me, it pop and sputtered and then I probably flooded it. Add the fact that I also have vertigo doesn't help much. My hip is still hurting today from last weeks charge.

This was a complete rebuild/overhaul/rejuvenation project, filled time and kept me out of the bars. By trade I am a metal fabricator/aircraft mechanic and now retired. The story was that this was a barn find that was destine to the Schnitzer Steel shredder bound for China. Rescued and stored away. I really don't think this it is a Penton, rather a West Coast KTM as the old seat said KTM. Being a KTM I took liberty and found a few '75 1/2 painted this red. It actually matches the inside of the airbox.

I had dreams that my vertigo would clear and never did so I will do other adventured that don't require 2 wheels. This was going to be my cross country platform, and even planned putting lights and plating it.

Engine is as new as you can get, New elko STD. L-ring piston sitting in a Kustome Kraft resleeve. New rubber nails, New bottom end, Rods and Mains, Jerry Buerke set the Crank and the Mains and replaced the case bearings also. The transmission was cherry picked from several engines that I had to choose from. Several gear replaced with new, Carb is a Factory Bing overhaul what ever that means. The wheels are new Sun Rims with HD SS Buchanan spokes, new bearing and brakes, with both being mounted with Pirelli DOT Scorpions, the rear shocks are Marty Tripes Noleen shocks, with the front new springs from Race Tech on stock valving. Upgraded the vintage Supertrap as with any west coast riding requires the blessing of the Forest Service. So pictures are a thousand words. Still a few minor touches left.

Bike is Located in the Bay Area/SF West Coast
Asking price is $4,600 $6K, that includes the engine stand, support tools, and spare engine parts and parts tray. This was to be a competition bike for the cross country class.

nice work doug, I'm 57 years young and I have to work at starting these things pretty hard and I pay for it for a couple days, hard to look back and think when we fell off we would jump right up and wrestle the thing out of the mud kick it over and take off. I may be interested where are you located and how much would you like to have for it.

Really nice restore. Nice core to start and you made into a diamond man. Nice job , be proud to own that one.

Doug Knight

Cores?

Picking them is not that easy, especially when they are shared by others.
