Thank you Dennis!

We love you too!

I'll be there and I am bringing my '82 Husky 430WR for former National Enduro champ Mike "Snake" Melton to ride. My friend Craig Hayes says he is working on a new Husky Auto to Terry Cunningham. All we need is for Dennis to get Mark "Possum" Hyde to come and with Rudder we will have most of the '82-'83 ISDE teams.

Brian,

If you can get Mark Hyde to ride most likely Wally Wilson would come along! He's part of that team as well. Wally has a pristine 82 430XC he can ride!

Let me know...

Dennis Brown is near Mark Hyde and can get ahold of him to twist his arm. If Dennis did not have something for him to ride I could get my 82 250XC ready by then.

Dennis,

Just remind Mark how well Dianne and I fed him at the '99 Honda Hoot Carolina Dual Sport Adventure Ride.

That should get him here.

I don't think I've seen him since he went to work for KTM almost twenty years ago, and it would be an honor to have him at The White Lightning.

Quick story:  The most surreal experience I have ever had was treating Mark, Scott Summers, and Gary Bailey to lunch at the Wayehutta OHV Riding Area trail head, near Cullowhee, NC, and listening to them critique each others riding styles, each wondering how the other could go so fast.

One of the many benefits I have received over the years as a wannabe hanging out with the cool kids.

Those cool kids include all of you who regularly attend our annual charity event.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Gosh this would be a long drive from my neck of the woods.  I hear lots of great things though.

Our concerted effort to get the Terry Cunningham, Mike Melton, Mark Hyde, Dwight Rudder and Wally Wilson here for this year's White Lightning continues.

Dwight Rudder has been an ardent supporter/participant of our event since day one, and will be here.

Terry has attended twice before, Craig Hayes is working on a fresh Husky Auto for him to ride.

Brian Kirby is bringing his '82 Husky 430WR for Mike to ride.

Wally has a pristine '82 430XC he can ride, and Brian says he can get his '82 250XC ready for Mark to ride.

If we can pull this off we would have the '82-'83 ISDE Teams here.

Now my friend and fellow Dirty Old Men M/C member Bill Kniegge has committed to attending, and will try to get Greg Davis and Dick Burleson here as well.  Among other high level position in motorsports over the years, Bill was the Vice President in charge of Marketing for Husqvarna in the U.S. from 1975 - 1980.

P.S. Dwight is the Coverboy on Paul Clipper's newly released book, "ISDE 1982: Povaska Bystrica, Czechoslovakia: The year the USA almost won", available now at amazon.com

I have invited Paul to join us, giving him an opportunity to sell and autograph his new book.

Just got my copy...a pretty neat little book...

BTW, if you think Mr. Rudder looks good in that cover photo...wait till you see the page 76 shot. Talk about riding in the attack position!

And a Pop Quiz...honor system...memory only...no looking it up.
Due to a variety of reasons (as Clipper's account reveals, some of them a bit unscrupulous of behalf of the organizers), there was only one American Gold Medal. Who earned that?
