Air cleaner Oil

So which oil are people using and why that brand. I am using No Toil because it is biodegradable. Works well, easy to clean. Is there a better brand out there?

I have used a lot of different ones over the years but I too like the No Toil very much for the same reasons, biodegradeable, and easy to clean.  Whichever brand a person chooses it works the best if you get the same brand of cleaner.  Mix and match does not always work well.  Cleaning with gas is a bad idea for many reasons not the least being it trashes your filter faster.

I have found that after time, the No Toil rim grease eats up the filter foam. Am I crazy, has anyone else found this. No No Toil for me.

I use the Belray waterproof grease instead.  Never really used the No Toil grease to say Bob.  I like the Belray and it is good for greasing stuff too.

Ahhh, I too have had the problem of the grease affecting the filter.  On the MC-5's, you are putting a round filter in a triangle shaped opening....  very tight, and hard to see if it is set right.  I have had an issue of the filter "gluing itself" to the air box.  When I go to remove the filter, I have to carefully to pull the filter off the mag air box.

Larry, which No Toil oil have you been using?  The standard oil with the red label or the new "evolution" in the green bottle?  How do you get the Belray grease off the filter?

I have a bunch from when I had my shop and it is the red.  Did not realize there was something new.  How is the new stuff?  If I use a good amount of the no toil powdered cleaner it gets the grease out.  I don't put in on too thick.

List of my preferreds:
Bel Ray for filter and fork oil (recently returned to using),
BelRay waterproof grease for filter seal and chassis lube points,
Honda HP trans oil (CR trans oil) for two strokes.
Amsoil Dominator for premix.
I first soak dirty filters in water with dawn dishwashing soap overnight which gets most of the dirt out then finish cleaning with mineral spirits to get old oil and remaing seal grease out. Blow out the filter with air, put some filter oil in a one gallon ziplock bag, add filter, seal bag then work the bag to saturate the filter with the oil. This method saves oil and keeps hands cleaner.
