To take them apart to replace fork seals

Larry Perkins

Pretty simple.  Loosen top caps, loosen pinch bolts, pull out legs(sometimes you have to wedge something in gap where pinch bolts are, take caps off, pour out oil after spring is removed, put spring backin and cap back on, hold fork upside down and you will see a allen bolt in the bottom end.  Put pressure down on fork while loosening bolt.  Very simple if you have a air impact, harder if not.  Sometimes you have to use something in axle hole to help hold like a large flat blade.  When that bolt comes out the forks come apart.  On the lower where fork seals are remove boot and remove the seal holding circlip.  Old seals have to be pried out but use the right tool or be careful as old magnesium cracks easy.  If you use something to pry with other than a seal removal tool put some rag between.  Clean and wash everything and drive in new seals.  A seal driver is best but I have used a big socket with success with care.  That is the gist but if you are not solid buy a service book from Al as it has good pics.
