I am guessing you could pull those hole shots on a pogo stick....  What is your method of oiling the chain?  Standard chain lube, or a light oil like WD40?

I run X-Oring on all my bikes. In the past season I pulled over 60 Holeshots..  Never noticed any lack of HP..  What I did notice, is I can run most of a season and never adjust the chain.  The chain and sprockets last several seasons due to low wear.  No brainer for me..

WD40 is not actually an oil I am told.  It does disperse water but not a good lubricant.

It works okay for cleaning the exterior of a o-ring or X-Ring chain since oil doesn't penetrate inside, and basically just washes off the exterior of the chain, but I use Golden Spectro chain lube on all chains after cleaning them. Golden Spectro gels up and does not fling off.

A few folks have mentioned the X ring chains...
My sense is they seal the bushings like an O ring chain, but provide significantly less drag.
You have to look at the specs, but I believe some X rings are also narrower then O rings.
Perhaps the best of all options.

Seems to have the same outcome as asking which oil to use. Lots of opinions.

Here is my opinion on chains, I've been using o-rings chains since the late 80's, never oil them, only use WD-40 after washing the bike.  I watch the front sprocket, once it starts to hook I replace it and the next time it hooks, the chain and rear sprocket are ready for replacement too.  Once they came out with x-ring chains, I switched to them.  My Husqvarna 501 has about 4300 miles on the original chain  and one front sprocket.  Seems like after the first initial adjustment, very little is needed after that.  I don't like to use chain lube because it attracts more dirt and becomes a grinding compound wearing out the chain and sprockets. O-ring/x-ring chains are the best thing to happen to dirt bikes, chain failures are a thing of the past. I remember riding Enduro's in the 70's having to adjust the chain at a gas stop.  I can put up with a little chain drag to have the reliability of an o-ring chain.

DID 520 VT2 Narrow Enduro Racing X-Rng chain.  Rocky Mountain ATV carries it, I'm sure it is available elsewhere as well.  Narrower than O-Ring chain so doesn't tear up chain guides in old bikes that weren't designed for wide O-Ring style.  Cheers.

Posted pic of chain on Facebook page with no problem, worked well.
