Hello, I've been a lurker for years on the site. I raced a Penton 125 back in 1974 in the California desert and owned one in the mid 90's. One of the best machines I have raced over the years.

I have been searching for another one and a mostly complete 1975 KTM 250MX fell in my lap this past week locally. I can't wait to learn from the members here on some questions I will certainly be asking.

I know a couple of members on the site, Mick Milakovic and Ron Carbaugh, that I have seen, maybe more. I worked for Curnutt Shocks back in the day for quite a long time and am rebuilding them for the vintage and post vintage racing guys. If I can help you out let me know.

Thanks for having me

Welcome Scott!

Looks like you've got "the bug" - it leads to an expensive addiction.

Let us know how we can help.

Welcome! Do you have the porting and pipe specs for that engine? Works wonders!!

Scootern29

Thanks for the welcome guys. Right now I am figuring out the puzzle as this bike was taken apart from the PO. I have most of it identified.

Does anyone know what the squish is for this motor? I was told .030 and no less than .025.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Scott,

Good that you are back to Pentons. Post some pictures of your project, that livens things up. Do you have a manual/repair handbook for the bike? If not, it's a worthwhile investment. Al Buehner (http://www.pentonpartsusa.com/) is selling them. He is also a good and reliable source for parts.

Cheers

Andreas

Thanks Clark, you have no idea how bad I have the addiction. I sold my first collection of about 50+ bikes back in 2000. I started again about 5 years ago. Some people just don't learn. Ha Ha.

Hi Andreas, yes I picked up a KTM motor manual and a Penton manual so I think I am good to go. I just picked up some parts from Al this past week. Here is a pic of where I am on the bike after about a week and half. The important parts of the bike are in great shape. I found out that the PO had taken the bike apart in 1976 to freshen it up and fell in love and moved and left this in his mom's garage until 2 weeks ago when I got it.
