I know it's a little early on and we will visit this post again as the month of August gets closer.  Al is having a little scheduled maintenance performed the end of this month.  The meeting date has been moved to Thursday August 9th to allow for his recovery period.

I'll add to the thread this time around.  Al had a heart valve replaced and a double bypass on Monday.  Dale said he was still in ICU yesterday and doing well.  Al seemed to think he would be ready to attend the delayed meeting on the 9th.  Dale and I agreed that probably would not be the case.  Wishing him an uneventful and quick recovery!!!

Anyone know if he had micro surgery or the old fashion through the rib cage method?  With the new micro method, he would out of the hospital in two days.......

Greetings,

Dale Buehner reports that Al is up and walking and surprisingly for Al he has an appetite. To clarify, Al had a valve repair, not a valve replacement, plus the double bypass. Dale Buehner also stated that it wasn't micro surgery, and that entry was gained thru as he stated, "cracking the breast bone".

Last week Al laughed and then told of a funny incident that occurred during his pre-op testing......since all of you are like family to Al I am sure he won't mind me sharing.....:) but please keep it a secret that I told you just in case.

I believe that is was while looking over the results of his MRI that the doctor noticed something disturbing....  He sent AL an email stating that there appeared to be a small metal spring of some sort in his stomach. AL thought for a second and then started to laugh...what had occurred was that he had forgotten that he had a small bread wrapper type of twisty tie on his chin hair, which extends almost down to his belly button, and the metal in it showed up in the MRI and it looked to the Doc. like there was a metal spring in his stomach....   Al was laughing so hard as he told this story I had to ask him to repeat it !!!!
