There are three or four places you can leak air and not be able to controll the idle. If you can close your air screw completely and the engine does not die you have a air leak. A loose slide or slide pin in a Bing has some effect but a runnawy Idle is usually post carburator. Check the carb mount to the manifold. A bador worn fit will leak and cause a runaway Idle. Seldom does the gasket from the manifold to the head leak but check it and keep the screws tight. One other cause which I suspect the most is a worn crank seal on the ignition side. remove the motoplat mark your timing and remove the cast seal monnt and check your seal for wear. Check your crank for play. Sometimes the seal is worn due to loose crank bearings.
