I took this photo on 35mm slide film and converted to digital recently. It was taken at Honda Hills circa 1973 at I think an Inter-Am race??? It's the 250 Pro class and I have photos of Jack Penton and Dick Burleson and a few other notables racing the 250 Class. The Open class had the likes of Roger De, Kring, Aberg, etc. but this was too cool when this Penton rider got the holeshot and took off. Pretty sure it is not Jack or Frank Stacy, don't think he was a Euro rider but who knows....yes who knows is my question. THANKS.

Hi Mike,
My guess is either Ron Huffman from St Petersburg Florida or John Franklin from Madera California. Are you sure it is Honda Hills?

Hi Mike, I'm thinking it was Honda Hills circa 1973 only because that photo was in with a bunch of other slides that I know for certain were taken at Honda Hills and some of the bike numbers of the riders in that first photo are in some of these Honda Hills photos in the group I converted.

BTW it should be pretty easy for some of you to recognize #82 right before he started his string of 8 championships in another discipline, guess this was a little help with his outright speed between the trees. ;)

Maybe I'm wrong about this being a 250 class rider? Husky rider #13 Nils-Arne Nilsson was the (unofficial first) 125cc (World) Champion around then if I'm not mistaken? I wrenched for DB at the 125 championship in St. Charles, Missouri just north of St. Louis the weekend after attending the Husqvarna Motocross School on Dave Mungenast's ranch held by Rolf Tibblin. Maybe the photo is from the St. Charles race???? I don't think it was as I was behind the start near the mechanic's area. Still think it was HH but the class was the 125.

There's funny story there with Rolf and me on one of the first (of 3) Husky 125 MX bikes if anyone ever wants to hear it[:I].

This photo was from the St Charles, MO. race.........(after the race I got to ride Marty Smith's Monark 125 on a portion of the track, scared the cr@p out of me, it was so much faster than the IMO slow 125 Husky, almost laughable slow...or was that the Monark was soooooo FAST[:0]
