MC5 Airbox Cover

Does anyone have or know where I can find a 1977 MC5 airbox cover? I would have assumed Preston Petty or DC Plastics would have made after market ones, but it doesn't look like it. If you have one that you can send a pic of, that would be great also. I am thinking of having about 20 or so manufactured, if I can find an original one to clone.
Open to ideas or suggestions.

For Moto we removed it for more air.  The woods guys ran them in case of water or mud. So it is not an absolute necessity

That was open but the woods guys in inclimate weather would duct tape that with a few holes punched in.

There is actually a stock plastic piece that curves over the top and is held in place by perforated zip tie like attachments to the frame. It acts simply as a deflector. I bought an NOS one a while back for a project, I could take pictures of it tomorrow and send them to you if you give me your phone number or email address.
There was also a cover for the side opening that was held in place by a rubber band. The only one of those that I have has had numerous holes drilled into it for more airflow which just defeats the purpose of when it is used for water crossings. Cell. 618-553-1346

Mike, are you saying there was a plastic piece on top besides the chimney that is built into the airbox?  There are foam pads on the underside of the seat that I thought fit down to help seal off the chimney.  Had a new one in 77 and it did not have anything up there. Also in MX back then we never drilled holes in the D shaped side cover we just removed it.

Yes, the MC5 had a top shield pictured in the chassis manual. The GS6 had a boot that connected the airbox to the base of the frame backbone and sealed it off in that area, but the MC5 had a deflector that kept debris out of the top opening ftom the looks of it. I believe the foam helped to keep dust away from the top of the inlet area, as it sealed the seat around the top frame rails from 3 sides.
Most of those top shields were either missing or broken on the MC5's I have owned, and it wasn't until I spotted the NOS one on eBay that I realized what the full piece looked like in place. Its that same bluish-gray color like some of the fender shields.

Gary Ellis sent me pictures of a rubber flap that is pictured in the chassis manual and held in place by those same mentioned straps on one of his MC5's. I will get pics of the plastic one when I get out to the shop in a little while. I wonder if the plastic one replaced the rubber one as a better functional piece, and maybe even carried over into the 78 MC5 which had a plastic air box.
