Rick Bennett to possibly do a Weathertech commercial.

There are always "behind the scenes" stories that come to the surface as the Penton Owners Group traveling circus cris crosses the country. One such story has emerged from this past weekend's trip to Unadilla.

Rick's traveling companion, Ralph (not his real name), felt a bit ill prior to heading home on Sunday morning. Ralph ( not his real name) saw that there were some garbage bags under the kitchen sink and grabbed one "just in case". Well, just in case did occur, and Ralph (not his real name), ralphed into the garbage bag as he and Rick were clicking away miles.

Shortly thereafter, Ralph (not his real name) saw some ralph leaking from what was apparently a defective garbage bag, fortunately, Rick has Weathertech mats and Ralph (not his real name) was able to wash the ralph off of Rick's Weathertech mat at a rest stop.

If you have an engine that you need Rick to rebuild, you better get him to do it soon as there is a rumor that Rick and Ralph (not his real name), might soon be heading to the Weathertech studios to do a reenactment. Hopefully Rick and Ralph (not his real name) will be able to wear their John Penton 100th birthday shirts for the filming.
The POG might need a temporary Treasurer if Ralph (not his real name) will be gone for any length of time.

I talked to "Ralph" (not his real name) this morning. He went to the doctor yesterday to get checked out. The doctor thinks that he may have a gall bladder problem. He will be going in to get an ultrasound test on it.

I hope that Ralph (not his real name) gets this taken care of quickly!! The gall bladder issues are not too easy to diagnose for some doctors!  I have a brother, Tim, that languished in the hospital for a week, after a misunderstanding and misdiagnosis of his condition! My oldest brother Tom had just been through these symptoms and such with his wife just a few months prior, but doctors would not listen to him or any of us. Tim's condition got worse over the following week while he was tested for just about anything you could name. Finally we demanded another CT or MRI scan, as he was bloating excessively, and I feared he would go into sepsis or some other serious infection. The last scan finally showed something that made them schedule surgery right away, removed his infected gall bladder and several infected stones!! Imagine that!! Two days later he was ready to go home and I picked him up when he was released.

What was the little thing that cause the misdiagnosis? When he was screened at the time he checked himself into the hospital with chest pains, they ask routine questions, one of which is "Did you recently have a bowl movement?" He answered, "yes." They then ask, " Was it dark in color?" He replied, "Yes, but I had also had a large handful of Oreo cookies this morning." They immediately wrote that down that he had a dark stool, and that is usually a sign of internal bleeding of some sort, and that is what they spent a week looking for but could not find!! Prior to our demanding further tests and scans, we were discussing him case with the attending doctor. He brought up the possible internal bleeding indicated by the dark stool. I reminded him that Tim LOVES Oreo cookies, and that would cause the dark stool!! He argued with me that food does not effect the color of a person stool, and was serious about it!! Then I asked him, "Doctor, do you have children?" He replied "Yes". Then I asked him if he had ever changed any "dirty" diapers after any of them had fed fed as a baby, and he just stared at me!! I said" I'll take that as a "No!" Doctors are NOT all the same!! If you ever have any doubts or reservations about anything a doctor tells you, DO NOT hesitate to get another opinion!!

I hope Ralph ( not his real name) gets better very soon!!

  Type at you later,
