Hi Maurizio,

I got the first package today from FranzKappa. Great stuff! Thanks for the help from you and Paolo.

So, if I ever make to Italy, do you think he would let me race his Ancillotti?

Gary

I would be very careful shipping to Italy.  The postal system there is very unorganized.  I would only ship express and insure everything.  I have a person who filed a claim with Paypal although the tracking shows it was delivered.

My .02 cents

Hi Gary,
Franzkappa doesn't turn on his Ancillotti since 10 years,
bring a mechanic when you'll come in Italy if you want to race it :)

I am shipping around the World.
I had some trouble with shipping to the USA.
Will that keep me from doing so again???
Will I warn everybody not to ship to the US????
Certainly not.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the NATIONS.:(

Since this post was brought back to the top I should point out that I have paid a high price because of it [B)]

My dual sport riding buddy said I can't drive his Ferrari anymore[:0]

And my wife says I have to ask her permission to ride her Motto Guzzi and the odds of me using it as a pit bike at Mid-Ohio anymore are pretty slim [V]

Dennis, I understand that you might have additional trouble shipping to other countries. However the topic might might wasn't the best. It certainly had me "whattthheee...."
I can guarantee you all that the itaian postal system works just as good as our swedish. Hopefully it works equally good in the US and elsewhere.

The idea though that these old bikes is a question of nationalism just doesn't sink in here. Sounds like someone got stuck in the 70:s.

In my mind we are a bunch of individuals spread all over the globe that like these bikes. We should help each other with pieces and share experiences. To me there are no national borders involved whatsoever.

Just my point for what it's worth...

This will be my last post on this.

1st and formost no offense was meant!

2 I rarely sell anything on ebay as the whole process is a big
hassle for me but I have quit a few spare parts that I no longer
need and I would rather see them used to complete other bikes than
  keep them as garage art.

3 For me to ship in the USA all I have to do is take the package to
work with me and UPS will pick it up there. Very easy.
To ship out of the country requires a trip to the Post Office,
take a number, and stand in a long crowded line. To do this takes
at least an hour of my time. Big Hassle!
BTW the same thing applies to Hawaii or Canada. I'm sure
professional sellers know a better way but I'm just a guy cleaning
  out his garage.

4 To avoid the problems mentioned in #3 I stated in all my ebay
auctions that I only ship to the lower 48 United States and I only
ship UPS. Being niave I thought that would be enough to avoid the
dreaded trip to the Post Office. Silly me.

5 Here's the frustrating part. Even though I clearly mentioned what
I stated in #4 I had three auctions in a row that had people from
from Italy either use the (buy it now) or snipe the auction.
If you had your 1937 Webely Vickers on ebay and had it listed as
local pick up cash only and someone from BFE won the auction and
said the check is in the mail ship it right out how would you feel?

6 In closing, due to my post I did learn how to avoid this problem
and got to make friends and sell some parts to some very nice
Italians who were courtious enough to ask if there was a way to
get them some parts they needed.

Sorry for the ramble but this has been taken way out of context.

BTW I changed the topic header to more closely match this thread

Dennis, I'm sorry if it appeared as I threw it at you. I wrote that I perfectly understand that you have a lot of trouble shipping abroad. I always ask first since the seller have to ship to sweden. That is a good thing as you pointed out. Your buyers should too.

My lines about possible nationalism wasn't intended for you at all. Some of the other posts came uncomfortably close though.

Dennis, ol Dave here, I don't have a problem with the Italians or any other countries, come on over, sit awhile, have a cold one, bring your bike, ride awhile, have some wine, how about some of my wifes hot peppers. More beer, lets ride somemore. What was that part you wanted, Oh well, we'll get'er next time. You'all come back.
