I figure a 100 Sachs should be more reliable than a 125, afterall its the same bottom end with less HP, although it might get revved harder to keep it in the power. I dont slip the clutch so that should not be a problem. I am not too worried about top end speed so I'll have it geared so I start in 2nd and only use 1st as a bail-out gear. Time will tell I suppose.

Thanks Tom this is great. I will get some numbers off to Alex on Tuesday but it looks like we have sixteen or maybe eighteen 100cc class riders for the ISDTR in Tulsa. We  just made reservations yesterday for the " Post Oak Lodge". See you guys there and maybe in Barber too. Thanks Tom can't wait.

Thank you to everyone that has called or written us about the possibility of a 100cc class for this years ISDTR in Tulsa. I feel very lucky to have such great friends who have thrown their support into this full throttle. We do have a new 100cc cross country "support" class for the Tulsa ISDTR !!! Thank you to Dave McCullough for giving us the thumbs up to do it . A huge thank you to Brian Kirby for being the person to originally submit for a new 100cc class in cross country. Sometimes Brian when you dream it comes true.

What we have is a 100cc "support" or "exhibition" class for the event in Tulsa. This means that you will be in the medal chase for the event but will not receive national points for the event.

We are keeping it simple and following the 100cc vintage MX rules as listed below with some exceptions.

11.1.4 100cc MOTOCROSS: 88-100cc two-stroke and 88-120cc four-stroke production motorcycles

manufactured as up to 1974-model-year machines, and like-design. All motorcycles

in this class must have been manufactured 100cc or smaller-displacement bikes.

Eligible machines include:

Bridgestone

Bultaco Lobito or Sherpa S

DKW

Hodaka 90 or 100

Honda CT90 or CB/CL/SL/XL100

Indian

Kawasaki 90 or 100

Moto Beta

Penton

Rickman-Hodaka

Sachs

Suzuki TC/TS90 or TS/TM100

Van Tech frames with any eligible engine

Yamaha YL1E, HT1, LT2 or DT/MX100

Zundapp

a) Engine displacement can be increased to class limit, plus allowable overbore.

c) Electronic ignitions and reed-valves are allowed.

d) Maximum carburetor size is 28mm.

e) Aftermarket frames are limited to those listed, pending approval of the Rules &

Eligibility Committee.

f) Engine/frame combinations must be as manufactured; no mixing-and-matching of

engines and chassis into "specials."

g) Honda four-strokes are limited to the one-piece cylinder head. No major engine

components from 125cc engines are allowed.

Ineligible 100cc Motocross machines are:

Any machine or major component manufactured as/for a 125cc motorcycle.

Rickman frames originally manufactured for Zundapp engines.

Monarch frames.

Seeing this is a test and only a support class and time is of the essence you can put a vintage 100cc motor into a vintage 125cc chassis for this event. Next year when this class may be permanent rules may change but for now this is what we have and I hope it is positive for everyone.

There is not time to post the new class on the ISDTR application form so when you send it in write in " 100cc Class". Right now it looks like we have well over 20 riders for the class with more to maybe join us. See you in Tulsa.
Thanks
Paul

UPDATE

My rule proposal for a 100cc Cross Country class was voted NO by the CC Rules committee and voted NO 12-0 by the Board. There is now a period for Member input before they make a final decision at the board meeting after Barber on Oct 20th. If you want a 100cc Cross Country class it is CRUCIAL that we write a letter and let them know. Send it to the main office in North Carolina, and it must be in by Friday Oct. 3rd. Time is of the essence and you can make your views known!

Brian,
For input is it for riders only?  Also, please post an address.  Thanks for all the things you, Paul and Dave have done to try and make this happen.

Ron,

Any current AHRMA member can submit input, you dont have to actively race but you would have to be a member. Anyone wanting to send Member input on your desire to see a 100cc CC class should send it to the Executive Director before October 3rd.

Last minute Member input was critical in getting the 100 MX class changed last year to allow 6 speed transmissions, so dont think "I wont send a letter, they wont listen anyway", your input is needed. A big turnout for the 100 class at the ISDT Reunion Ride and Member input could make all the difference.

Brian it was really great to talk to you last night. Just to let everyone know the gist of the conversation I expect thirty or so 100cc bikes to show up at the ISDTR in Tulsa. We are counting on Brian not being the only Berkshire there. So please if you nailed down your cross country points please consider riding the 100cc class. How can anyone possibly deny this class when they see thirty or so 100cc bikes on the line ????? We all have one chance to make a statement and this is it.
Otherwise there was a mention of running a 100cc support class at three CC events next year.
That will NOT work. How can anyone expect a guy riding for let's say 200 sportsman points in June to run a 100cc bike instead of his or her Jackpiner ? Does not make sense at least to me.
Brian was the one who submitted the rules change for a 100cc class and I for one and many of the Hodaka riders also will show support at the ISDTR. We only have a few weeks to go. Brian you have our support !!
Thanks guys

Paul also made a good point last night, he is helping folks that would like to ride a 100 but need a part or two. I think anyone that has a spare 100 Sachs cylinder and would be willing to loan or sell it to someone with a Six Day and is interested in riding the 100 class at the ISDT-RR would be great. All it would take is a top end and some minor jetting to change a Six Day into a Berkshire for the weekend.

Or you could just install a red gas tank.  [}:)]  We will have at least 1-100cc bike at Zink.  We may have two, just depends on how much rework :( is required after Barber.  -EP

Hello everyone,
It seems that some of the "powers to be" have felt that the 100cc cross country class is not a valid class for Ahrma. I for one have felt that once the class participation for this years 100cc MX class has been counted that it will be one of the most raced classes.
I also know of many many of you that have joined Ahrma so to race in this new exciting class.
Can I please impose on any of you that have joined Ahrma this year to race the class to email me so I can add your name onto the list. Sorry I am getting old and the memory thing is just not working out that well.

We have aproximately thirty 100cc class riders at this years ISDTR in Tulsa. It still is not to late if you care to join us !!

After a lengthy discussion with Teddy Landers this past weekend we need help !! Anyone who cares to see this new class ( 100cc cross country) in Ahrma next year can you please send a letter via email to myself p a u l @ s t r i c t l y h o d a k a . c o m   or to Teddy who needs to present it to the board at Barber in a few short weeks. Teddy's email address is t e d d y @ t l a n d e r s . c o m

Thank you to all who believe and can help us by taking the time to see this come to reality. Brian Kirby and I need your help please !
Thank you
Paul

Now is the time to take action folks. If you have not done it, shoot Cindy a short email saying you support a 100cc class (if you do support it that is).

I started out on a 100cc Super Rat when I was about 12-13 years old.  When I got back into vintage bikes I bought 3 Hodaka 100's, one a Rickman Hodaka (garage queen) and two chrome tanked Super Rat's, one race-ready.

I've sent my email to Cindy Cowell last week thanks to Brian Kirby's post and also immediately sent a letter to AHRMA thru Paul Stannard.  I encourage all of my vintage friends to do the same.  Let our combined voice be heard.   Besides, someone has to catch "Baby Brian" on his Berkshire 100!  We can't let him have all the glory can we?

Hello,
We have to have all the letters into Cindy Cowell today 10/3/08 so if anyone has been thinking to write a letter of support we sure can use your help. Brian Kirby and I truly appreciate all the letters and emails we have both received so far.We have high hopes that we can possibly pull this off but it takes help from all whom believe.
Thank you
Paul
