I have a 1973 Penton 250 Motocrosser that I recently acquired from a friend in a trade. I'm not sure what I am going to do with it, as I took it in on trade for my 1969 Schwinn Apple Krate Stingray. The Penton needs a resto, and I am not mechanically inclined, so it will presumably be better off in someone else's hands.

I would part it out if enough parts are requested, but would prefer to sell it as a whole bike. Price would be $700 for the complete bike. Please email me for individual part prices and I'd consider doing so.

Has decent 35mm Ceriani forks/triples, pipe, frame & wheels/hubs, but the shift and kicker shafts are stripped. The motor is not locked up and has good compression. I'd just like to see a fellow POGer do something with this bike. It is in the Northwest, near Portland, Oregon.

Jerry,

The Penton is way better than I first thought. I just got it yesterday, but it was dark when I got home, and I didn't get a good look at it.

On inspection today, there are some really great parts on it, like the complete wheels, exhaust pipe, frame, forks and triples, airbox and sidepanels, Magura components and the motor and carb.

Although motor and carb are very clean, the shift shaft and kicker shaft have seen better days. The seat cover is toast, but the base is very nice. The foam is suspect. The fenders are brittle and also toast.

All in all, a good basis for restoration, or a great candidate for a racer. The tank is green, obviously a 125, but could be painted.

Really prefer to sell it as a whole. A shame to part something out in restorable shape, but will consider it if enough interest in other parts.

Thanks for the interest.

Vic,

Did you receive the photos that I sent you last night? I sent six photos your way. Let me know what you think and if you have any interest in the bike. I will probably make a racer out of it if nobody steps up to buy it. From what I understand, I undervalued it by quite a bit when I posted it, but just looking to recover what I have into it.
