Here is a 17 1/2 + min video ( sorry it is in Slovik language) of the brutal 1982 Czecho ISDT / ISDE. Only 8 of 36 Americans finished this event. We almost won the World Trophy competition. You can spot me briefly at min. 14:05 . Day 4 and on the verge of hypothermia. Temps dropped over 30 degrees F. in a very short time and I had taken my jacket off because it was so warm that morning. I can thank "Okie" for helping keep me going when he helped the American pit crew force a lot of hot tea with lots of cream and sugar into me to warm me up. I am on a Husky WR125 , Wearing a Acadiana Dirt Riders Jersey. They were one of my sponsors for the event. I also blew my knee on day 3 ( ACL ) but still finished. They operated on my knee a month later. After watching this video you can see why I am prouder of winning my Bronze medal here than my Gold medal in Germany 7 years later. There were at least 3 hills like this between every set of check points. We lost several riders just 18 miles out on day 1. Barry Higgins was one. If you look close at min. 17:13 you can spot Dane "Okie" Marable from Oklahoma helping the British team and at min. 9:18, Glenn Hollingshead from (Perry Mtn M/C, Maplesville)Selma Alabama , with that Million mile stare . Glen said that was his "Stick a fork in me, I am done" look.
Enjoy,
Dwight

Dwight, thanks for sharing this video with us. These short clips of some of the trails show how tough these events can be (not a "ride through the park"). To ride this particular event for 3+ days on a screwed up knee and still stay within your hour is amazing and shows the fortitude it takes to be a ISDT rider.

I would also like to thank you at this time for your co-operation in putting together your member profile for the last POG newsletter. Your passion and love for a wide variety of brands of dirt bikes is what keeps the freindly competitive spirit alive for the ISDT reunion events and makes it all "fun".

There's a video on the same site from Wales the following year. Somewhere around 3:45 or a little later the US team is shown walking in to the opening ceremony.  Look fast.

The Czech and the former East German teams walk in showing off the Trophy and the Vase.

What a find.
