Wanted / For Sale / KTM 600 4-stroke

I have decided to part with my KTM 600 4-stroke.  This machine is titled and licensed in Texas. I used this machine for dual-sport events.  It is as reliable as a hammer and lots of fun to ride.  Cold starts are a different story.  I have never tried a different carburetor or any updates but I'm sure with today's advancements, cold starting can be improved.
This machine came with a 19 inch rear tire as it was a MX model.  I changed to an 18 inch just because that's all I ever used.  The machine is in excellent condition.  It will need a new air filter, clean the carburetor, and fresh fuel.  This machine has not been started in over 10 years.  It has sat in a corner of my shop.
I am almost 62 years old and like to go fast with lots of horsepower however I tend to break lots of bones. I want to sell this machine to someone who will give it a good home.   It deserves to be ridden and enjoyed.
Give me a call and let's talk.

Wanted / For Sale / 1980 KTM 390
April 24, 2008, 08:05:00 PM

I have decided to part with my KTM 390.  It has the most useable power of any KTM/Penton I have owned.  I owned many Pentons from 250 to 400 cc.  I've owned three 495's, one 420, one 600 4-stroke, and one 350....all KTM's (what can I say, I like horsepower).
This machine has not been started in over 10 years.  It has sat in my shop at home.  If you put in a new air filter, clean the carburetor and add fresh fuel, it can finish and win any enduro or hare scrambles if you can.  I kept this machine because I loved the easy to use power of the 390.  Now that I am almost 62 years old, broken bones don't heal quickly.  As I said, I like horsepower.  I like to go fast, get the front wheel up, get her sideways and throw a big roost.  I don't have any natural riding talent so I tend to break lots of bones.  It's just the price I've had to pay in the past and I paid it gladly.  Can't afford to pay any longer.  This bike deserves better than a dirty corner in my shop.  If you feel you can give this machine a good home, if you feel you can grab a handful and fan the clutch and hang on, this machine is looking for you.
Give me a call and let's talk.

Penton Talk / Introduction
April 24, 2008, 07:28:51 AM
I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Richard Herman. Been a POG member for many years. I started motocross around 1970 on a DKW. Owned 4 at one time. One day my bike suffered a fatal break down during pratice. My friend said I could race his 250 Penton Harescrambler since we were in different classes. I hole shot all 3 motos and led wire to wlre. I had found the secret of life--HORSEPOWER. I sold all my DKW"S and purchased a red 250 Penton. Started to place in the top 5. When the orange MC5"s came out,I bought one and started to win. I then bought a used 400 MC5. Again I holeshot and led wire to wire all motos in my first race on it. I knew I had found the "HOLY GRAIL". Horsepower and lots of it!

I quit riding cold turkey about 12 years ago. With lots of horsepower comes lots of broken bones. At age 62, broken bones just take too long to heal. I tryed just trail riding but I like to go fast. Even when I'm mowing on my tractor I find the sweet spot in the power band and it's near the redline.

I read and follow many forums from cooking, gardening, tractors, welding, and of course Penton/KTM"S. I rarely post because I've seen lots of word wars start over a misunderstood post. I prefer to read and learn and not unwittingly offend anyone.

Thanks, Richard Herman
