Penton Talk / Berkshire Steel Tank Value
September 13, 2019, 02:13:11 PM
Purchase prices vary greatly.   What is the V number on the steering head?   Is it a cast iron cylinder or aluminum?    Earlier bikes are more collectable and rarer.  IMO $1000 to $3000

IMO- the extra ports are not as significant as the restricting carb intake and exhaust ports.   joe

Penton Talk / Early ads / pictures

That must be a very early add.   The Penton appears to have the old style air box (early 68).   BTW-I need one of those air boxes for no. 215.   joe

Penton Talk / Sach clutch side leak
February 02, 2014, 04:51:22 PM
Bill is correct to look for the copper washer on the lower screw near the shifter/kickstarter.    This is actually and oil drain screw and will most likely leak if not sealed.  As others suggest, the shifter seal in the case, and O-ring.   I stack a few O-rings between the shifter and kickstarter.   I remove the thin gasket, and use silicone sealant.   Mine never leak.  (I had six Pentons....   Good luck,  joe

Rob,   I visited Jerry at Penton's and saw the great repair on your 72 Six-Days frame.    What is your plan on the paint job?    I am not far behind you in a restoration project....    joe

Penton Talk / 100 penton on Ebay
January 24, 2014, 12:23:42 AM
The front forks might be Betor with the front wheel assembly included.   I have a 73 Penton with Betor forks and wheel.   Someone bored out the stock 32mm triple clamps to fit the larger Betor forks which have more travel than the Cerianni forks.  joe

Bob, The pipe looks great!    I have an original down pipe which needs some TLC before it is installed.   Did you fabricate all the cones on the new downpipe?   joe

Penton tanks are gel-coated, I believe.   Do you want to remove painted added to the tank?
