Penton Talk / Six Days no spark
March 29, 2016, 12:49:52 PM
yesterday Prior to posting I cleaned the points so I thought, removed coil made sure it was a good ground. I also run a separate ground wire from the motor to coil.then looked over the wiring all looked good, probed around with the ohm meter (really dont know what iam doing with the meter).
So this morning I made a sure I really cleaned the points with sand paper a couple of precise swipes and then checked for spark. BIg spark and started on second kick.

Thanks everybody
Jim

Penton Talk / Bing to mikuni
September 11, 2015, 08:43:40 AM
Ed the groove helped with the bogging very little, it seemed to help with the transition from low rpms to the power band . In the parts book it does not show the screen over the main jet , the bing on my husky has the screen. My slide is not worn as far as I can tell but it looks as if it has some erosion. At vmd hs I think I had my floats set a little to high and I think it flooded the crank. My bike runs great except for the bogging maybe you just have to be very precise with your down shift timing .

Penton Talk / Bing to mikuni

Still tuning the bing its better then it has ever been.the biggest problem is when it starts to bog down on a uphill in 2nd gear it has a hard time cleaning out. I was wondering if a mikuni might help with this . It might just be me not used to riding a 125cc.

Thanks Mickey.
found them on ebay . I had a question if mine was cracked or the slot in the fiber bushing was supposed to be there the new ones have the slot. I am soaking it in gas to see if it brings it back to life.

Theirs no rubber , its some gasket material that is built into the carburetor . It might be replaceable. I might try soaking it in gas .

I also race motocross and trials and cant see how it will work on sunday.I called the ama and they assured me they took that into consideration. I am not going for the grand championship but I still take the trials and mx serious, My call to the ama was not very reassuring.I think more calls to the ama might help.

Penton Talk / sachs gear shift mechanism shimming

Thanks gooddirt, I think I got the shifter set to equal to amounts of over ride going down from 4th gear to 3rd and back to 4th. On the bench the shifting is inconsistant sometimes I can go right thru the gears other times it just won't go into the next gear is this normal when the motor is not running? Also there is a neutral after 6th gear is that normal?

Penton Talk / m - 20 bearings question
February 12, 2015, 07:42:17 PM
Starting off with less shims then calculated made this shimming process a lot easier. thanks JP

crank now has .003" play
main shaft has .004"
kicker has .003"
lay shaft has zero ?? will zero be a problem this is how it was when I got the bike ?

can I still use the new gasket for final assembly even though I used it for the shimming process
