Quote from: Paul Danik on March 11, 2025, 09:28:26 PMHi Rob. I don't think by vin # you can ID it as an ISDT machine, as to the best of my knowledge no such records exist.   See if it has dual coils or at least dual coil mounts. How about a center stand. The build date could rule it out as an ISDT machine as the ones I have known to be ISDT machines were built just before the event, maybe a month or 2 before. Hope this helps. Paul

My '73 250 HS has dual coil support and was built 2 months before the ISDT.

Hi everyone, talking about this year's 50th anniversary of Dalton's ISDT, is it possible to know how many of those racing bikes are still alive and preserved?
I Guess some of you has one of those bikes with a great history.

Then it's a 100cc Sachs motor, 6 speed. But you can't be 100% sure about that. If you read that number from the ignition side cover it depends in which conditions the bike is, if it's like brand new or restored could be a 100cc, if not, the side cover could have been replaced during the years (personal experience). Could be 100cc or 125cc. If it's a proper '74-'75 100cc i guess it's quite rare expecially for European standards. I don't know how many were made.

Your bike should be a 1974 250 Hare Scramble made in October, with red tank and plastic fenders.

Wanted / For Sale / 1973 Penton Hare Scrambler
December 07, 2016, 06:49:32 AM
Hi Andreas, I'm sorry to see your '73 HS for sale. Hope nothing serious behind your decision.
As others before me have said, you did a really great job on this bike and left us on the site a lot of documentation of your restoring process.
I hope you get a lot more of your starting bid price.

Cheers,

Michele.

Thank you Larry, i knew that the original 73s had the shouldered Akronts but why do you think in the ISDT in some cases the shouldered were replaced by 'normal' ones? Just personal tastes? I add a picture of Jack Penton during Dalton's ISDT. I knew that he ran in the 350's class but i think the bike was the same a part from a bigger bore cylinder.
Does anyone know what type of rims are on Jack Penton's bike?
