I bought a 50cc engine like that brand new in the early 70's at a snowmobile engine place in Auburn Hills Mi. that was going out of business . I don't think I paid more than $50. for it and I pland on making something out of it but never did. Sold it somewhere ?

Penton Talk / Lectron history on Pentons
November 28, 2020, 01:09:15 PM
Orderd one to be put on my 1976 jackpiner . So I think the dealer just keept my Bing . Ran great . One day I was riding across a gravel pit the bike just quit . Got off to see why - the Lectron was just hanging by the throttle cable . The intake was just a piece of radiator hose . Sliped it back on , tightened the hose clamps - and I was off !

I was taught how to sharpen a drill by my Dad who worked as a cutter /grinder for FoMoCo . It's a skill thats easy to learn and sure comes in handy at the worst of times . You know when it's sharp if your getting long curly - q's comming off the metal your drilling . Just Google it .

Penton Talk / 1979 KTM 250 hard starting
July 04, 2020, 10:26:16 AM
I remember the old 360 Husky I had to lay it on the left side to start it . I also rember starting it one day and it backfired .Restarted - let the clutch out and it was running backward . The backfire sheared the key on the flywheel and changed the timing . Thoes were the days.

So back in the 70's a neighbor had a 650 Triumph engine in a Bultaco frame - He called it a Tri-taco .Some where on Youtube there is a vid. of vintage dirtbikes with coustom engines that are very well done and quite beautiful .
