Penton Talk / SACHS WORKSHOP MANUAL

Rocket just sold me an excellent copy today.
I found him through a mutual friend. And he's a LOCAL guy (eastern Iowa/wesrern Illinois) for me! Now I don't have to put my stupidity on "Poglic display" Very nice knowledgeable Penton lover. He watches POG message boards & I told him about your post.

Penton Talk / broken petcock

Wow, you guys are scarey! I was talking about the sprocket carrier on the rear wheel.
With all the talk of new cases, I feel almost lucky to have the problem I do. I did chip a piece out of the case cover. but everything else up front seems OK. The strapping to protesct the case sounds good. I'd love to find some available.

Penton Talk / broken petcock

This petcock shortage seems to be the achilles heel of the Penton marque. I ride this bike so if there is a non-stock solution, I'm interested. I can live with the shame of being unoriginal if the gas gets from the tank to the Bing.
I also had another question. Last time out I threw my chain and noticed some serious play in the sprocket carrier. After disassembly, I confirmed that the inner bearing was shot. Apparently I didn't notice soon enough because the bad bearing ovaled out the carrier. Is there a way to fix this (boring the hole to fit a larger bearing O.D. with the same I.D.) One friend ( a working moto mechanic) suggested removing the bearing and setting the new one in an epoxy metal substitute. Any better ideas?

Penton Talk / pipe won't fit
September 28, 2001, 08:02:24 PM
John,

Thanks for the good advice. I have the resin. there is a snall crack in my airbox on the underside if the pipe cutout that I needed to fix, but the thought about painting the inside with resin is a good one.I'll bet you saved me some serious wrenching down the raod. Thanks

Penton Talk / pipe won't fit

GOT IT!! Thanks to Skipperclyde and John Durrill for their suggestions. Loosening the head and removing a rubber mount that I didn't realize I had left on did the trick. I removed the flange from the front of the motor, inserted it in the pipe and slipped it over the studs. Keeping the rear of the pipe high and not allowing it to contact anything seemed to help. I got frustrated at one point and walked away, then when I returned it slipped right in. Thanks again to the friendly Poggers for assisting a Penton maladroit.

Paul, I'd send you airfare, but I wouldn't let my son fly right now. Would he take the bus? Yes, the fins on that side are cut. I tried lifting the head and it almost makes it but...no. I'm going to work now and take my frustrations out on THEIR machines. Thanks for all the help guys. It's NEVER easy!

Penton Talk / pipe won't fit
September 26, 2001, 09:43:35 PM
I knew that I'd leave out information. I have removed the airbox completly and the pipe hits on the top frame rails and the head. I'm going to try Skipperclyde's remedy tomorrow night. I would like to know if different types of ISDT 125's used variations of similiar pipes.

Thanks everyone.

Get your drool rags ready before following this link. VERY nice '72 ISDT 125 just went up on eBay overnight. TONS of great pictures.

I almost hate to put this link up because I've decided to sell my Penton and this one is much nicer. If you are looking for a good rider for less money, e-mail me and I'll send you info and some pics.

Wanted / For Sale / Chain guide wanted
October 25, 2001, 09:44:37 AM
I need a chain guide for my '73 ISDT 125.(manufactured in 9/72 - is it a '73?) Does anyone have or know of one available? I have mounts on the swing arm facing 1 up/1 down. The lower one has only 1 hole and looks as though it may have been sheared at the bottom. Was the chain guide detachable and adjustable or fixed to frame?

On another subject, I purchased a sprocket carrier & sprocket from Rocket and the sprocket is a smaller diameter than the one I had. Were there different sprockets available? Are they still? I guessed one for MX and one for enduro. Again, thanks to the great people of POG for the help I know is on the way.

Penton Talk / broken petcock
October 11, 2001, 01:19:02 PM
when I replaced the pipe on my '73 125/6B recently, I broke the brass fitting that joins the petcock to the gas line on the left side. Is this replacable? I've seen alot of posts requesting petcocks. If I can't repair mine, any leads on a replacement?
Thanks All!

Wanted / For Sale / fiberglass MX tank
September 29, 2001, 10:53:27 PM
I was surfing eBay and found this guy's store of bikes he's parting out. Saw this KTM MX style tank begging to be repainted Penton green. I've seen so many posts of Poggers wishing for this tank, I had to tell. My wife would burn my bike or at least my ears if I spent the $125 he's asking. So, I'm going to chicken out and leave the link for someone else.

By the way, there's also spray cans of Penton green paint on eBay.
Let me know who the lucky winner is!

Penton Talk / pipe won't fit
September 26, 2001, 07:35:38 PM
I finally found a pipe that I thought would fit my bike, but I cant get it to fit into flange on the engine. It's very close but contact with the frame in the area of the airbox prevents match-up. I've seen members identify bikes for penton newbies like me before, so I thought I'd ask if I bought right. I purchased a pipe for a '73 125 ISDT.

The serial # of my bike is 20958080 and the motor # is 7315726 type 1251/6b. Could someone please fill me in on possible mistakes I made in the purchase of the pipe?

Thanks for your help.
