Wanted / For Sale / Trade for some 1980 NOS parts?
March 03, 2015, 08:38:51 PM
Mike,

I have both the 175 exhaust pipe and the airbox. Pretty sure the 250 airbox will fit the 175.   I don't have the rod or plastic filter brace though. Just the box and the airfilter cage. The OD on the cylinder side of the pipe is - 40mm. I thought it might fit my 250 KTM but it doesn't so it must be a 175 pipe.

Mike,

I have the box, filter cage, but no rod or filter brace available for a '79-80 KTM.
Hope this helps...

Andy,

I would consider it a personal favor if you would help James in any way possible. James broke up a complete Hercules transmission by GIVING me a transmission gear that I desperately needed.

I owe him a debt of gratitude. And anything else I can do for him to reciprocate his generosity.

Dang Mike,

Even though we have never met we are brothers due to our shared passion of vintage dirt bikes. You cut it too close on this one though. Get well SOON!  Hope you have some really pretty nurses!

Penton Talk / Problem solved

I would like to vouch for Skiracer!

I know James (skiracer) and would like to assure everyone of his ethical behavior.  He's helped me on several ocassions with vintage parts (Hercules/Sachs Hydrocross) and I consider him a good friend of mine!  He's even offered to take me riding, using his vintage stable, should I find time in my travel schedule while I'm in his area.

Wonderfully written Ted.  The photo included in this Post is a great one.  Accompanied by your story it is a great tribute to Al Born.

Thank you,

Penton Talk / 1979 ktm shocks

Lee,

I can confirm that 13.75" is the eye-to-eye rear shock length for a 1979 KTM 250MC.

Yes, Vance Smith can work wonders with electrical systems and is highly regarded in the vintage community both for his personality and enthusiasm for old dirt bikes.

Note, I did not say anything about his riding ability.  The last time I personally saw him ride was years ago at one of the ISDTRR's in Arkansas when he went over the handlebars breaking his collarbone (ouch!).

Vance has been instrumental in putting many old dirt bikes back on the road through his electrical prowess!

Thanks Jack, that is certainly helpful.  Although I now live in Kansas, I'd like my virtual Porterhouse cooked medium rare.

Nice job Bob!  Makes me want to have Sachs.:D  Alas, I only have many other brands to choose from.  The ingenuity of fellow POG members never ceases to amaze me.

Best TWENTY BUCKS I've ever spent Larry.  Although I don't have my POG Membership number memorized, and don't remember how long I've been a POG member, I just re-upped recently for another 2 years.  Heck, I've never ever owned a Penton, but do own a couple of vintage KTM's (79/80).
