Penton Talk / flywheel cover

Dennis, I blasted and painted the frame,Made a new swing arm pivot bolt and am rebuilding the engine. I got some good cases from Perkins and am probably going to have to weld the case. I am sorry to hear that Ridgedale is out. I will probably ride the old Greeves in additon to the Wassel.

Penton Talk / mikuni carb
September 25, 2002, 08:58:36 AM
I am planning on putting a Mikuni on my Wassell Trials project. I am interested in the feedback from others. I need low end reponse on my project. Mikuni conversions on my other trials bikes have been very good.

Has anyone tried to eliminate the godawful
cable operated rear brake by using a rod instead? If so how did you do it and does it improve the braking?

I am rebuilding my #5a engine (Sachs) for trials in my Wassell. Do I use the wide rod or the narrow oval type one for best results.
Many thanks

Wanted / For Sale / Intake/exhaust question/Mikuni
September 17, 2002, 03:56:01 PM
I ride a Villiers engined Greeves in Ahrma event. I am building a Penton/Wassell trials bike for competetion. I have a iron barrel Sachs 5 speed to use. Has anyone used a Mikuni on this engine for trials? What diameter? Has anyone increased the length of the intake manifold to increase the low end torque? If so what length? Has anyone modified the exhaust system to improve smoothness? Has anyone moved the footpegs lower and further back to improve traction without causing the Wassell to "push" in turns? I haven't turned a wrench yet so let me have your ideas. Many thanks to Larry Perkins and Dennis Jones already.

I would like to purchase a nice Penton Wassell Trials Motorcycle. I bought one new 30 years ago and then sold it. I am willing to pay a good price for a nice one.
