Yep.  Great bikes my 76 KTM sat in a barn for more than 20 years I pulled it out, cleaned the carb, changed the oil and it fired after 2 or 3 kicks.

Penton Talk / Leaking Filler Neck

I used liquid steel to fix a leak around a petcock on my stock fiberglass tank, it held up as good as new for years.,stay away from pump gas, and nver leave fuel in a fiberglass tank.

Penton Talk / Replacement Chain and Sprockets- '74 250
August 15, 2016, 03:15:02 AM
My 76 came stock with 530 chain, back in the day it was a good choice because it would out last a 520 chain, but that is no longer a problem. even the cheaper chains of today are better than the chains of the past. Don't scrimp on a chain, the cost difference is not that much compared to what you get. Don't bother using a 530 chain unless your going to do some really gnarly backwoods riding. They are significantly heavier than a 520 chain. al should be able to set you up with a good set of sprockets.

Penton Talk / harder to start....

Moving the clip only changes the timing of when you get fuel, if it is too lean or too rich from just of idle to mid throttle then the needle jet is where you need to look. Moving the needle may give you a clue as to what needs to change but once you change the size of the needle jet, put the needle back on the center clip. All of my bikes are set for sea level so if I ride above 2500 feet, I will sometimes change out the pilot and drop the needle one step.

Penton Talk / Mikuni Jetting Question
July 12, 2016, 12:29:05 PM
Does it idle on its own once the bike is started? Also did you check to see if your carb has a Air jet installed, some did some don't, I seem to remember that I was having trouble until I took mine out. If it is blubbering then you are getting too much fueled not enough air, the problem could be a combination of too large a pilot and too large needle jet, by the way, don't change out the needle, there is more going on with it that just determining the right fuel mix at mid throttle. Changing needles can get you all messed up. It is better to change out the needle jet. Needle jet and jet needle are not the same thing.

Doing a complete bore job maybe the a good thing to do, but before you do, check the specs on the piston and rings, if the piston is still good shape, a new set of rings and a quick hone job may suffice. Do a vacuum/ pressure test to make sre your seals and gaskets aren't leaking. In fact that might be the place to start and then pull down the top end to see where you are.

Mike do a search, I did this very thing a few years ago.  I list out all the things I did to make it fit, seems to me I used a bore out 34. It is a smaller body so it was a bit easier to set up.
