Penton Talk / off topic - Gina
January 30, 2011, 09:00:44 AM
Hey Ted,
I was wondering what a Gila was. The Gina is an Argentina Gilera. They were licensed by Gilera to be made in Argentina (GI from Gilera and NA from Argentina) If you remember the Gilera road bike you called me about last year that you found in a swap meet. Gilera also made alot of the Sears bikes but not of the quality that they made for the european market. Gilera had some good success in the road racing arena.
Not a Penton, but a real Italian Gilera was a reliable motor with torque. Being Italian design, it probably handled fairly well. Although, the Argentinians were not known for quality manufacturing. Cheap Knock-offs. I have been burned by buying parts from Argentina that turned out to be knock offs, especially with my Moto Rumi.
There was a Gina road bike at last years Mountainfest.
Thanks for the post, John A

Penton Talk / Tank Decals
February 03, 2004, 12:35:57 PM
Hi Guys, I am almost finished on making a set of tank stripes for my '76 GS250. This may be what you are looking for. I searched everywhere and could not find them.

These are the black & white stripes that start at the front of the tank and run about halfway back and then angle up to the top and meet under the strap. There is a picture of a bike in the photo gallery, Number 409, that has the same stripe.

As soon as I get them printed on some good vinyl I'll let everyone on the site have a chance to buy them while I let the vultures go at it on ebay. email me if you want put on the list and I'll let you know what their going to cost after I test them and make sure they don't rub off. Should be ready this Month. I have a professional helping me so they should be good.

You can email me at [email protected]

Have a good one, John Agostinelli

Penton Talk / Trail Riding in OH, VA, WVA and points South
September 02, 2003, 08:27:34 AM
I've tried many of the parks and the Hatfield & McCoy in Southern WV is my favorite. It has so much area you'll never cover it all. It's beautiful country and there are trails for all skill levels. The AMA was highly involved in developing the whole idea. Have fun, John A

Penton Talk / What happened to Augustine's KTM?
October 15, 2003, 04:32:19 PM
Does anyone know what happened to Augustine's KTM in Butler, PA. I took an engine to him over a month ago and can not reach him by phone. My phone calls were not returned and now the phone is disconnected. Some people gave them a good reference and now I'm beginning to worry. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks, John A[?]

Penton Talk / Tranny won't shift - help
August 19, 2003, 03:12:29 PM
I got my '76 GS 250 all put together and found out that it won't shift gears. It is stuck in nuetral. I bought the bike as a rolling chassis and the motor was intact. I thought I might get lucky and find out it's a simple fix. (Reality will probably be alot worse). Can anyone shed some light on the problem. Thanks alot, John A

Penton Talk / What color ?
June 15, 2003, 10:13:50 PM
Hi Guys, I'm now the owner of a '77 250 Penton w/lights. I was wanting to repaint the tank & side panels and wasn't sure what color to use. It looks like Allis Chalmers Orange before it faded. Can anyone tell me what it is for sure. Appreciate the help, John A
