Wanted / For Sale / Wanted

S. E. Michigan.  I realy don't have any idea what it worth.   The bottom end and trans was gone through by a local dealer.  Newer piston and bore.  Some new parts, seat cover, exhaust pipe tail end, foot pegs, gas tank petcocks, air filter (stock air box/new intake bellows), good/newer tires.  seeping fork seals, weak front brake, no kick stand.   Fitted with a Mikuni and starts easy and runs outstanding, have origanal carb and spare new piston.  Not a show quality bike but you could put gas in it and finish a 50 mile trail ride with confidence, or maybe further if you could stand the beating. My guess is $800 to $1,200???

I'll pay a fair price, but I think the model is the GS, not sure.  I will be doing some trail riding a few times a year, so I don't really want a show quality bike.  I also want to sell off my 73 Six Days, it's just to small for me to ride, it has most original stuff except for plastic fenders and lights.

Penton Talk / 72/125 restoration

Thanks for your reply John.  I think I have it jetted correct, and it runs much better than with the Bing, pulling stronger-cleaner down low and midrange.  I don't quite understand all this hoopla I have been hearing about the shifter adjustment, but I did have the whole bottom end rebuild by a good KTM shop guy. I'll take your advice and get the shop manual. How does one burn out a pipe? Sounds like trouble, can it be worth the effort?

Good running bike, starts and shifts like it should. Mikuni carb, but also have stock Bing.  Crank and top end were replaced about 10 years ago by Jack's Cycle World. Only ridded about 30 miles snce then.  After market fenders and number plates but most is original.  No Lights.  About $1,350.  248-798-4819. Farmington mi.

Penton Talk / 125 lighting/enduro kit
April 23, 2003, 08:47:04 PM
Where can I get the old style lighting/enduro equipment for my 72-125.  I would like to have the original type equipment, but anything that fits the bike will do.

Penton Talk / 72/125 restoration

I have just completed my 72 125 Penton "restoration to ride".  I swapped out the bing for a mik. carb because it ran mucho better.  The bike runs strong at upper revs, but can I expect it to stay together for a 75 mile trail ride? I have never been a huge fan of 125's but to keep this thing moving at a reasonable clip the engine is squeeling.  Also, what can be done about all the missed shifts, is it me or do we need to be very carefull when shifting this bike?
