Penton Racing Talk / 2019 vintage enduros
May 19, 2019, 01:39:53 PM
I rode the family enduro at Kinsley on Saturday and had a great time. Two loops about 20miles each all on private land virgin trail. Some vintage bikes like pe250 it175 episode no pentons. My bad, I rode ktm 200, 6th place, nice little trophy in 60+.We raised 5600$ for a local charity:). 20$ sign up, no sound test, no sticker needed on this one.I rode Lawton last year and had fun too.

Penton Talk / Easy pull clutch lever
February 01, 2010, 10:51:34 PM
Glad I didn't bother trying the easypull yet, Thanks. I am going to try rerouting my cable behind the cylinder. I have trued the clutch pressure plate, rebuilt the throwout mech. new terrycable and greased Magura lever. I wonder how much clutch pull is added by 1  extra turn too much of the clutch springs? I get arm pump on the Penton I don't get on my modern bikes! Next will be easier front brake. Wildman

Penton Talk / Missed opportunity.
June 23, 2009, 06:39:18 PM
That was me finishing second in my debut Sportsman 250 Intermediate race. My wife took lots of pictures if I can figure how to post them.  Yes, turnout was very light but it was a great day to MX race. The track was quite muddy and rutted up pretty good. I had to run a grar lower in lots of spots to keep from bogging. Man I would like to do a reed valve conversion on my 250 Hare Scrambler!
I stayed for the open practice after the races were over at 11:00 AM and got to ride more for no extra cost. We were riding the Big track with the full jumps and modern bikes. I rode with the beginner class and felt fairly safe as most weren't jumping either. Next time I might bring my more modern bike for later.  Dan Pagel

Penton Talk / Snapshots: Visiting the dead
April 10, 2009, 10:02:11 PM
Bob, I was there last year and looked through their pile of wheels stacked against the fence, looking for a spool type wheel for my ice racer. There in the very back was a Penton front wheel with nice Sun rim and brake assy. Sold! for 20.00. I looked at it recently and it's the later hub with reinforced bearing area. I,m going to update my 250 HS to it soon. I like the Mount Pleasant motorcycle and snowmobile graveyard ( it's actual name) the best because the prices are lower than Slicks but you better know what you are looking for because most stuff is just in a huge pile, unmarked. Penton Talk / bing carb slide guide
August 12, 2008, 01:01:20 PM
I use JB weld on mine. It not only holds the guide in place but also seals a unnoticed air and dirt leak. You might want to set the slide in place to hold the guide piece aligned whilst the JB Weld sets. If the guide is still tight I just smear some silicone seal on the outside to seal it. Wildman

Penton Talk / Ignition Buzz Box
May 14, 2008, 07:21:10 PM
I used to build and sell buzz boxes at the Dirt Works, the cycle shop I worked at. I used a kit from Radio Shack made for a code practice ossilator (CPO)for Morse code. I don't know if anyone still sells anything like that. Now I use a flashlight from Snap-on that comes with a plug-in cord with two aligator clips sold as a continuity tester. Hope this helps, Dan

If you need just the rubber part, try to find some black rubber hose like heater hose and cut it to length. I've repaired Konis this way and it works great! Lube the rubber and push in the old steel inner part; hope this helps. Dan Pagel

No. I've never been to Hardrock and am delighted to hear it's a whole riding area. I'd like to do some trail riding while in Florida. Any one know of any local or near Deland areas for trail riding and what do I need as far as ORV sticker? I think you can ride in Ocala Nat. Forest at certain areas. I plan to netsearch before leaving.  Lets have some FUN! Wildman.

I will be riding in  the Sportsman 250 Nov.class
on Saturday. The fulfilment of a long-time dream.
The Penton is fresh and I've actually been doing some workouts!
I should be rolling in Thursday. I will need some break in time.

Penton Talk / Motor case color
February 11, 2008, 08:51:48 PM
I just found all four Duplicolor paints (1650, 1636, 1615,1612) at the local Pep Boys, 4.49 ea. I'm hoping it's more fuel resistant than PJ1. The first time I tickled the Bing the PJ1 curdled and slid off the engine cases. Thought this might help others find the Duplicoler easier. Wildman
