Penton Talk / Re: Ktm won't start
Last post by slvrbrdfxr - May 06, 2026, 01:03:22 PM
Jerome,
Have you checked for correct ignition timing ?
How much compression are you seeing on a compression gauge ?
Fresh gasoline ?
Spark plug getting wet to ensure it's getting fuel ?
Checked exhaust pipe to be sure it's clear and of any restrictions like mud dobber and mice nests ?
Air filter not restricted ?
Bottom end of crankcase not flooded with fuel ?
Have you tried to get it to pop with starting fluid sprayed into spark plug hole ?
You might try installing a new non resistor spark plug cap to see if that helps.

Those are a few items I can think of right off the top of my head.

Penton Talk / May POG meeting.
Last post by Paul Danik - May 04, 2026, 10:02:57 AM
It is time to put the lawn mower away and head to Amherst, Ohio for the May Penton Owners Group meeting. The meeting will take place on Thursday May 7th in the Jackpiner room of the KTM office building, located just west of beautiful downtown Amherst, Ohio. POG President Rick Bennett will drop the green flag for the meeting to begin at 7 pm.

The gentleman in the photo is none other than Dave Sanders. At the 40th. anniversary of the Penton Sportcycle extravaganza a few years back, Old Dave must have had his trailer over loaded with items from his Penton Museum when he arrived in Amherst as his display was jam packed with hard to find one off items that sure drew a crowd the entire time. Old Dave has more Penton stories than pretty much anyone I have ever met, as one would expect as Old Dave was a Penton Dealer and racer, and quite successful at both ! I do have a question for Old Dave when I next talk with him, " what gear are you in ? "

Penton Talk / This year's FIM Enduro Vintage...
Last post by skiracer - May 03, 2026, 05:31:54 PM
This year the US team is going to Zschopau, Germany for the 2026 Enduro Vintage Trophy race.  I decided to give up my team spot and I am going to be riding as an individual.  I am changing classes this year going from the B2 to the B3 class.  Being that it is the 50 year aniverary of owning my 250, I thought it would be appropriate to ride it in this year's event.  We have a large team this year with 25 riders!  I am honored to be representing the US again and being on a great team.

If anyone has any interest in helping support my effort on going to Germany, please contact me by my email address: [email protected]

I will be updating any new information as times goes on, thanks!

Penton Talk / Bike Night at the Hall of Fame...

Just as the folks in the photo seem to be having a great time, the Penton Owners Group would like for you to join with them for a great time on Saturday May 16th. at the first AMA Bike Night of the year being held at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Campus.

Although the event is called Bike Night, there are activities going on for most of the day as the schedule of events on the Bike Night information page attests to. The vintage trials gets underway at 1 oclock with the Bike Night Bike Show running from 4 - 8 PM. The POG ringmaster for this event is Jim Reed, Jim says he plans on arriving early to set up the POG EZ-UP and spending most of the day there.

https://motorcyclemuseum.org/events-experiences/bike-night/

SO, dust off your Penton and bring it along to display and enter it in the bike show if you wish. OR, ride your Wassell in the vintage trials and show them folks how it is done. BUT, no matter what, make plans to join with the POG on May 16th and maybe Jack Penton will photo-bomb you too !

PS The POG raffle bike will be on display at the event and raffle tickets will be available. If you can't make the event, and wish to get some raffle tickets, just click on the link below.
