Air box side was aluminum, exhaust side fiberglass.  Try the message board search feature and type in "paint codes" or any other question you may have.

Thanks, Dave. I figured since foam filters deteriorate over time, I'd use a paper filter since my JP doesn't get ridden much.

Penton Talk / 73 Penton 250 questions
Last post by Dave C - February 28, 2026, 08:43:52 PM
Hello !  I recently acquired a 73 250 and was looking for some info. Were the OEM side cover/number plates aluminum or fiberglass ? Mine has one of each. Also, does anyone have the paint code for the proper yellow/gold color ?
Thank you !

Hi Lew,
I went out and measured an original paper air filter that came out of a 73 100 Berkshire. Im thinking it should be the same as what would fit a 74 Jackpiner. The filter measures 7 5/8" on the OD along the long axis and 5 5/8" on the ID along the long axis. It measured 5 5/8" on the OD along the narrow axis and 3 3/8" on the ID of the narrow axis. The rubber flange is 1" wide. The filter is 2" in thickness. There was no part number visible on the filter. I tried to attach pictures of the measurements but the files were too large. I'd be glad to email the pictures to you directly if you drop me a note using my screen name here and adding @cox.net . Hope this helps !

Does anyone know the dimensions of the paper air filter for a 74 Jackpiner?

Do any of you know of a source for the cable ends for front brake cables? I can't find anything close but am hoping there is a supplier that I am not aware of.
