It is probably not the original motor, but the chassis is defintely a 1980 model, but most likely started life as a 250. There is no 400 listed in the KTM engine parts book, or owners manual I have for 1980, only up to mid 79. Mike

Looks like a 1979 motor . I looked at it further again and there was a 9 in front of the 55.

MIke, what is your address to send M/O to?  Or if you don't mind I can send a check and you can wait as long as you want for it to clear.  I am not a Namibian prince or Uzbekistani straw merchant so it will be drawn on a U.S. bank.  But M/O is fine if that's the only way since sending cash is sort of risky.
