I have a "76" GS 400 all set up for the ISDTRR, I'll weigh it tonight (bath scales)and post the weight.  It has a Preston Petty Headlamp and Motion Pro taillamp on it and id is a true GS with the heavy crank and trials ignition.  Feels pretty light to me but I ride a "08" Husky 250 TE 4 Stroke.  The GS has no hit and pulls like a tractor!  CIAO

Kip, that sounds about right to me... a few pounds can really make a difference. My MC 5 weights in at 230 with no gas. and when I add lights etc. I gain about 10 pounds. My GP Maico was weighed last month at a unbelievable 207 pounds; but then I have an aftermarket pipe, plastic fenders and tank. I think that the new tires are alot lighter than those Metzlers of old. The heaviest 2 stroke I ever rode was a 69' Montesa cappra 360.... what a tank and not much on power but it handled pretty good. If I remember right, it weighed in at 260...

Maybe the full tank of gas, the bark busters and skid plate and fiber glass rear fender make it feel heavier. Along with the fender bag full of tools... I know it feels wicked heavy after riding it all day and the muds thick everywhere.
Just don't get it stuck in a mudhole !!!

well no wonder it feels so heavy. When I rode in the woods I carried tools but If I need more than a sparkplug wrench and a handful of other tools then I am in real trouble. I suppose it would be a good idea to be able to adjust a chain or change a flat tire but that is about it....
I once carried a backpack into the sierra mountains. It was about 80 pounds and after everything got wet and I had to walk 15 miles.. over boulders and steep single track trails. by the end of the day... that pack was heavy too....I quess that is why I do not backpack anylonger....[8D]
