Hey It was good seeing everyone at Glen Helen. Got an entry form for the next race.  I'm hoping to put a new chain on the bike tommorrow and take it for a long test ride.  Im done.  Its not perfect, but, I wanna ride it.  I have some pics of Lloyd, Larry, Victor and my 6-Day I would like to post.  I forgot to ask the guys at the track how its done.  Any easy answers

I remember watching the races at Ascot when John Erson was winning the 100 class on a Honda. The Honda was really around 150cc and belched blue smoke everytime the the throttle was backed off. Bruce Baron tried to race a special framed SL125 against the Mettco boys and constantly got dusted. My conclusion is that there is something funny about those two SL100s.

My first race bike was an SL 100 and it was even the same color as these twins. I know for a fact that there is no way with the technology that was around back in the day that one of these Hondas could out run a Berkshire unless it did have the extra cc's. I'm not saying that I ever did that with my Honda, but I know for a fact that it has been done and only with the extra cubes.;)

Watch the race results , stock beater Suzuki TM 100's walk away from those two Honda's . I seem to get good starts on a four stoke due to the flat power band . I don't have to shut off for a corner as soon , due to compression braking and for a beginners trail bike they handle surprisingly well . We have a huge amount of work put into setup , suspension and tuning ,all done on the cheap . If the little Honda's are running hard ,it's because their throttles are WFO all the time .

After going to the races this weekend I had to finish my bike???? Took it out for a little ride and it ran pretty good. Need to order some back hub rubber bushings from Al. Looks like I'll have to break down and buy some back shocks.  A friend of mine gave me some quad front shocks and they are way to stiff.  The goal is to go out to the next retro cross race with the SL70 and the 6-DAY

Set up wise, I noticed Betor front forks on both bikes and Works Performance on the rear. That combination alone really helps out with the handling. Other suspension hot tips are to run a Yamaha 125 swingarm/rear wheel/brake assembly. This gives the bike a bit more wheelbase. On my Honda, we extended the swingarm about and inch and dropped the axle a 1/2 inch by putting in a z shaped piece in front of the axle slot. The best SL100 I put together was transplanting the engine into a Rickman micro-mettise frame. It was neat but kept jumping the chain because the countershaft sprocket was too far away from the swingarm pivot.
