1976 GS sportsman class legal?

I'm looking at a 1976 175 GS and I wanted to know if it was sportsman class legal due to the like design frame with a '74. Of course I was planning on taking out 1/2" of the fork travel and finding a 4" rear shock position. Am I on the right track?

Yes, it is Sportsman class legal set up like that and we have never had probs getting those multi-position bikes through Tech at Nationals if the right shock and settings are used.  

The motor under close scrutiny, which would probably never come, could be questioned. But later model KTM motors are used all the time without being questioned.  That is a better motor than a 74.  It is a whole different piston and porting.  This is my opinion only.  I don't think you would have a prob.
