That's not a MC5, it's a GS6 I believe. The frame loop over the rear fender is the giveaway.

That is an MC5 with a bolt on rear frame loop. Hi-point offered them in their catalog. The giveaway is the silver frame with the orange frame loop, and the (MC5 only) bent tab with the cushion right above the front of the gas tank. Bob knows his Pentons. Mike

Plus the 76 GS model was just like the 75 with the multi-position shock and not the MC5 forward mount and layed down like this has.  Definitely a MC5.

I'm curious about the side panels, because I have pretty tired panel on the air cleaner side of my MC5.  They look great.  Are those fiberglass (NOS?) panels or plastic panels (DC)?

I looked at the orange DC panels at mid-Ohio and thought they would do the job, especially since I will ride/race my MC5 frequently (6-8 times per year). Anybody have experience with the DC panels?

Thanks...

I haven't used their side panels, but I have used their white fenders on a couple of bikes.  I have been really happy with them.  They are strong, keep their shape, and fit well.  The only down side, is that they are a matte finish instead of a gloss finish.  Thanks my story and I'm sticking to it!  James

I've got some of their parts on various bikes I have and fit can be a hit or miss kind of thing. The side panels on my RM370 are small where as the front fender on my 76 MC5 125 seems a little large. I am considering replacing the stock side panels on the MC5 but I'm also waffling between selling it and riding it. I think it's almost too nice to ride and should probally be in the hands of a collector. I'm not a collector.

Oh of course, Mr. Brosius...how could I have not considered your most excellent panels as one of my options.  Please forgive me....[:I]

BTW...I'm lazy...that must be one of the reasons why the ORANGE DC plastic panels appealed to me.  IF I WERE to replace my panel with one of your products, can you recommend a spray can orange that would match (or be close) to my 76 Penton MC-5 tank?

Thanks,

TooClose

Krylon has an orange that's very close.

Where might one find decals for the 76 side panels?

Britt,
Near the bottom left hand side of Tom Brosius's same website, (DKWRACER), there is an email address for Skip Miller for the tank and side panel decals. Mike

Hey Bob,  what kind of kickstarter is on your bike?  It doesn't look like a stock unit.  Thanks, James
