I am building a 77 MC-5 for my son and am in need of a filter cage, hopefully for less than the $50.00 they want on ebay??
Thanks!
Mike

How does $25 including shipping sound? I still have a couple laying around. I use the Uni-filters with the supplied cage. Price is for both. I just looked at them and one is slightly larger diameter than the other with white coating that is chipped in some areas. The smaller of the two is very light blue coated and is in almost perfect condition. Did 125/175 and 250/400 have different size filter cages? I could not find any illustrations or part #'s for the cage, only the filter, (which is the same for all engine sizes), in any of my 76 or 77 MC5 or GS-6 chassis books. Mike

Filters for Penton/KTM - MC5/GS6
are the same as Husqvarna '75 250/360 CR and all Husqvarna '76 -'78.

Yah, I know. But would'nt Husqvarna use wire cages as well.
That little interjection was just a fyi....and also I felt like using my keyboard.

Next week Mike (W)....I can finally ship you some goods next week.
Thanks

Cool.
Both of these cages were in Penton Airboxes BTW, so I figured they were correct, but you never know. Mike

Mike  I need the filter cage and all the little hardware that holds it in for my 1979 MC80.  Its oval?, Plus the intact boot from the airbox to the carb?  Are they the same?

I have an extra cage, but I don't have an extra bracket that holds the cage in place or the retaining rod that holds it in place under tension.
There is an airbox, complete with a slightly different version but usuable cage, including the bracket and retaining rod right now on eBay # 200410778566 which might be the cheaper route to go than buying a piece here & there.
Parmabike sells new reproduction carb to airbox boots on ebay for around $55, item # 270427594858, which is listed for 77, but is the correct offset shape, and can be trimmed for the correct length, or # 350256674955 if the carb is very close to the airbox on some models. Check to see how much room there is between the carb and airbox first.
Al Buehner may have an airboot in stock cheaper, so check with him first to see if he has any. Mike

I think the cage for the 79-80 are close to the Six-day type if you can't find a OEM unit and then there is the rod. The filters I think are the same. Have a boot but has a rip that needs some goop. LG

I think Al B has the Air filter, but not the cage.  So I am interested in the cage.  Mine has a airboot on it, but it looks like it might have some cracks on it.  I'm sure I could make the rod and retaining bracket if I knew what it looked like.  All I have is a grainy picture to look at.

You know that is a good idea,  I need to clean out my 6-Day Air filter anyways.  When i get back to Barstow,  I'll take a look at it.

The retaining bracket is shown in the eBay listing # 200410778566 that I mentioned, pictured laying on top of the filter cage. It goes in place up against the filter cage with the filter installed first and the rod pushes against the angled recessed area to hold it firmly in place against the filter assembly. A working replacement would not be hard to fabricate, as long as it distributed the tension evenly on the filter cage to hold it tightly in place after the filter assembly is installed in the airbox. Shooot the filter cage looks exactly like the original filter cage for my 72 6-day.  OK now I know what the rod and the retaining bracket does, I should be able to make those too.  Next step, clean my 6-Day Filter.
Thanks for the info
