I have another question-mine has a headlight speedometer and taillight, also a chrome tip on the huge muffler-I would guess enduro model-are they the same otherwise between the non enduro and enduro model? Also I saw a pic posted here that shows the 75 to have black hubs-mine are silver colored, so is mine a 75 as I was told or possibly a 74 or 76?

Bob Marsh

Big Mac-do you have that tech article on the gem reed set up on the 250? I cannot find it anywhere on this site..TIA

Bob,
Most 75's should have black hubs and Akront shouldered wheels. They may have been changed to later model Sun wheels with the silver hubs. They interchange up to 1979, where they went to conical hubs on the front wheels, but still interchange until early 80's I believe. I don't think the rear changed besides color until the early 80's like 81-83. I think that 1977 may have been the last year for black hubs. Mike

Bob,Texas would probably not be an issue as far as transport goes as glen adams (among others) comes thru here on ocassion and does deliveries at a decent rate and does a great job.The 175 engine is locked solid,(not sure why, that's how i got it)i do have a extra top end for it though. The last time i looked both 250s kicked thru 1 with low compression.Over the holidays i'll try and figure out if i want to part with any of them and let you know.

3putt, I called the number for fischer cycles in PA and it is disconnected or no longer in service. I then searched the internet and found fischer cycles in OH, called them and they said they don't do penton or hercules anymore-have not done them in YEARS. Any more ideas for who to contact? Thanks

Bob Marsh

sixdazed, even shipping is not a problem, will cost less than a hundred to ship the motor and pipe..I would really like to make a 250-think about it. Thanks Bob

Ok, I am an idiot, mine does have black hubs-I was thinking of the hercules..I was going to put a pic of the rolling chassis herc, but cannot figure out how to do it..

Go to search, and type in the subject, " How do you post pics " and there is information on how to store and download pics to the site. Mike

Call this number (Jake Fischer) for Hercules hard parts.
412-781-6309

His wife will probably answer since Jake's busy all the time.  I bought a Herc 175GS/7A sprocket about a month ago.

I say it's a 1978 model because of the shape of your gas tank.  Speedy, aka Helmut Clasen will know for sure.
