Does anyone have any first hand knowledge about a 1982 Suzuki PE 175?  I have an opportunity to get one that has had an extensive restoration.  I am looking to use it for CC events, enduros, and one or two hare scrambles. I need to downsize my cc's for the woods.  I just can't go as fast as the bike anymore.  I had a 79 KTM 175 a couple of years ago, and really enjoyed the ease of riding it compared to my 250.  Any input, positive or negative, would be great.

Good bikes.  Hard to find parts.  Is this the single shock model ?  I had twin shock 1979 & 1980 PE175.   I also had the worlds only PE125 in 1981(concept bike developed from a 1980 RM125 and tranny parts, fenders, and subframe from a PE175, with a RM250 fuel tank).

If you can find them TS185 pistons will bore right in for a slight boost in displacement.

James,

Here's some info (magazine tests and info) that I used when I had a PE 400. Hope this helps you with your decision.

In the end, I liked the PE 250's over the 400...The 400 just had very odd handling traits. The 250's (I've ridden 1977-1980 250s)I've ridden had good power, neutral to fair handling. They were also reliable, and easy to modify for more power, if needed. Since I've never ridden a PE 175 I really can't comment on them.

Thanks guys!  The bike has the single shock on the rear.  Any comments on the reliability of them?
