I was going to get the air boot for a 1978 MC5 250 remade. Part # 55.06.026.500.  I have found that these are hard to come by and I was unable to located any.  I have a good used one to have copied.  Does anyone have any idea on how many 78 250 had been made?  If that part number fits any other models, and is anyone else interested in getting one of these boots.  This is the one between the carb and airbox.

I need one for my 79 ktm mc80 250.  I don't know if they are the same or not.

Check with Al first to see if he has any. There was someone that recently found a source at a good price if they actually came through. Hopefully they will post their findings. If it is the offset one like pictured on pg 10 of the 78 MC5 manual, I have a nos one with a little shelf scuffing available shipped for $40. Mike

Mike,
It is off set and angles in also.

Jeff,
The one I have is # 026 in the diagram on pg. 10 of the 78 MC5 manual, which doesn't angle inward. Are you are referring to # 326 in the 79 manual which does angle inward, but is a lot shorter? Parmabike usually sells both of these on eBay for $55. Mike

Mike,
It is Part # 55.06.026.500  #126 in the parts book.

454MRW

#126 is for a 125 in the 79 Manual, and is listed as part # 51.06.026.500. #126 is not used in the 78 MC5 Manualn instead it is listed as #26. I thought that you were talking about one for a 1978 MC5 250? Mike

Garrett,
The one that Al lists as 1977 and sells for $40 is the same as one of the 2 versions that Parmabike sells for $55, and I didn't see that one listed currently on eBay, so Parmabike may be out of stock for the moment. If Al or Parmabike doesn't have any, my offer of $40 shipped still stands. Mike

I'm not sure what I have?  My airboot dim are as follows. I.D. on carb is around 51mm.  I.d. on airbox is around 72mm. Length is around 35 mm.  In the parts list I'm looking at it gives a p/n as 520.06.026.600 and the word (lange 62mm)  Whatever that means and whereever they got 62mm at?  I'll post a pic later today

What you have is #326 in the 79 Manual, part # 54.06.026.500. Lange is length, which is 34mm in this particular case. The one listed by Parmabike is the closest to the one like you have and his rough approximations of size are: diameter 75 mm to 50mm length 46mm, and will most likely work for you. The one I have is 70mm long and can only be cut down to 50-52mm in length. Mike

jeff, check out, //www.vintagedirtbikeparts.net, click on air boot page , go to page 2. my 78 mc5 250 took the air boot on the left.

Here is a better ling to page 2 of that listing. I knew someone had mention a more affordable place to get the boots, but I couldn't find the post. Mike

i just tried to go to click on the link. it does not work. i just googled  it and it works that way.

I will post a pic later of the air boot.  It is not the same as any listed or pictured on the vintage dirt bike web site.  I believe it is only for a 1978 250 MC5.  When you see the pic you will understand.  I have the longer one on the bike now but had to cut it down almost to the taper.  Makes it hard to put on and it bunches up a little. Getting back to my other question, how many 1978 250 mc5 have been made?  If I have these remade who would be interested in getting one.
