I raced today at Glen Helen, first time since last August.  I rode my RM 125, (Pentons are in rehab)and a bit easier on my frame.  I raced 2 classes, first motos only and decided to lay up for the second set of motos, thinking I (right) would be smart and not over do it.  When I got home and cleaned the mud off the bike, very muddy spots today, I find the swingarm nut gone and the bolt worked its way out a couple inches.

I never checked it and wouldn't have seen it with all the mud....I believe the Lord was looking out for me today, as He is every day, today a little extra,....this could have been a real disaster at high speed or jumping.

But for the Grace of God I am home safe and sound! My belief that He keeps an extra eye on us "old racers" is furthered, even more.

It looks like a 1980 RM125T to me. Good thing that didn't fall out in a race, it would have been smokin bad!

WHOAA!  That would have been awful if it came out on that long down hill straight with the drop away jump by the start.  Your right, Thank God!

It was good seeing you today at the track.

My wife got a big kick out of you pointing out Lucy's (our dog) smart bone.  She can't stop talking about the dogs smart bone.  She says I don't have one, so, I must be dumb.

Southern California and "mud" in the same sentence? Wow...this global warming thing is really heating up. ;)

Glad to hear you came back in one piece, Mr. Monz..

That may have ruined a great landing. Nut should have been a nylock (or it will be now).

I removed the bolt today and it sheared off, in, about 2 or 3 inches on the left side....at the pivot point, kinda.

The nut has a cotter pin in it and probably didn't just unscrew....will do all the above with my spare.

Thanks for the pointers, gentlemen. :)

Chasing the open bikes in the 50+ class is a hard ride on a 125.....I sure feel it today !

Dave.  It sure wasn't the "clean living", if you knew my story, He simply forgives us our sins and protects us ( I am no Bible thumper, but my eyes are beginning to open)....it is guys like me that need Him the most, the good guys are on "track" already, "Still Keeping Track"...I am new at it.

Thanks for the concern.

I had a Yamaha XS650 That use to do that. I was the 2nd and 4th owner of the bike.  Driving down the 91 fwy from Long Beach during rush hour with that bolt breaking made life exciting. It never broke when I 1st bought it, but my 2nd go around with the bike it broke all the time.  I knew all owners and knew the history of the bike very well.  I never did figure out why it kept breaking.  I sold the bike to a neighbor kid for 200 bucks and told him to keep a eye on it.  I went over a couple of weeks later to check up on him and he took the bike complety apart "to Fix it"  I mean completly apart, striped the motor, frame, everything. That bike never saw the road again.

I bet one of your Pentons took off the nut!

VICTOR MONZ

Mike....I think you got it....those rascals !

I better treat them to some fresh oil or extra cleaning and bring them to the front of the line in the garage, right next to the bench and tools and love them and care for them and shine them up, everything they need.....I promise !

I just love the little guys.

Victor, looks like we may have more than Pentons in common.Been thinkin of hittin some races down south.Maybe we'll meet up someday.
