More Bing Carb Problems

Hi folks, don't mean to keep asking for help here, but just received the ONLY other posibility for my 24mm Bing Float needle and Seat, 'according to Bing'. It's not even close. This seat is so large in diameter that it overlaps the hole by almost the thickness of the wall.
One other posibility is to make the loose fitting one, the first one they sent, fit. Any suggestions on how to do that. JB-Weld it in or maybe oversize the OD somehow to make it fit?
Maybe I should give up on this carb and look for another.
I'm open to all suggestions. VMD is right around the corner and I have spent a lot of time on this bike to go there.

I have some rubber tip needles you can try; is the old seat out? Or a 26mm MIC (slides right on) and cables for a Iron barrel should be ready to go ; if it works $25.

The old seat is out. I ordered a new seat and float needle. The first seat that came in from Bing was to small of an OD. It dropped in and would fall out when I turned the carb upside down.
I was told by Bing that there were two options and they would send me the other seat option. The second one they sent was too large of an OD by quite a bit. Tomorrow I guess I will measure the original seat and tell Bing to send that one. Should have done that in the first place. Why there would be this many seat sizes for one little carburetor seems unusual. At least to me.

I am not familiar with configuration of this particular seat, but would it be possible to solder in the one that the OD was small on?  Like I said I am not familiar with configuration of this particular seat but provided it would not affect it functionally, sweat soldering it in may be an option.

They should have the correct one based off the stamped # on the top side of the carb  i.e. 1/24/156. LG

I couldn't agree more Larry. Mine is a 1/24/153.
Kevin, If Bing says they can't find or don't have the right one, than maybe on Tuesday, I could stop by, if your home, to see what you think.
I can't use either one they sent me, and worse, the original has been tapped to get it out.

   I am not sure you had a problem to begin with other than possibly build up or trash on the seat.  I am sorry to hear that you have ordered a lot of parts that do not work.  If it were my carb I would make the first seat work with some work on the OD to where it would fit and work.  Just my thoughts.

If it is just a slightly loose fit, you could use some locktite to hold it in place, as it will expand and fill some slight clearances, with the best being red or the bearing locktite, which will expand even more. You would have to heat the carb body quite significantly to remove it in the future, but with the bearing locktite, you would not have to worry about it coming loose from engine heat. Mike

Well, A decision has to be made. Bing says there are no more seats for my carburetor. They were totally against trying to make the smaller one fit, even though I liked the lock-tite idea.
Their recomendation was to send them the carburetor and they would mill the hole out so the larger one would fit.
I have never worked with these people before and don't know them. Has anyone here dealt with them before? I can't beleive all this is happening right before VMD. I explained to them I need it back quickly, but so does everyone else I guess.
Ron, you're probably right. I just thought I should replace it since I had replaced everything else.
In case of an emergency, does anyone going to VMD have a 24mm carb I can borrow? I will jet it at the event.
Can I trust these guys to do a good job and get the thing back to me in a timely manner?

Could the "large" seat be machined down to fit in the "small" bore?

My father in law is a machinist and we were thinking about doing that but there isn't enough sidewall. The large seat is 50 thousandths bigger than the hole.

I am assuming you are dealing with Charlie at Bing, it has been my experience that they always do a great job. Reguardless of who you are talking to there, I think if you just explain the situation (you are trying to get this turned around before VMD) they will get it done, and done right.  Just my 2 cents.

Also I am working at home today (Tuesday), so if you want just give me a call and bring the carb over, perhaps between the 2 of us we can come up with something.

Could you use a helicoil to bush the opening down for the smaller seat?
