Greetings,

I came across an ebay ad for Clarke aftermarket plastic fuel tanks and noticed that they have tanks for 75 to 77 MC5's.  In looking at the tank it the shape and size looks a lot like the old Hi-Point alloy tanks.  Does anyone know how / if one of these would fit on a 72 Six Day?  I would like to find something I don't need to drain after every ride.

Thanks,

KD

Those Clarke tanks only fit the MC5 frame to the best of my knowledge.  Windsor made one that fit the Highbreathers in the enduro watermelon style.

I have been running an orange Clarke "Toaster" tank on my frame breather "76" GS 400 for about 2 years now and it fits fantastic.  Have Clarke send underside photos of both tanks they offer and if the same, it will work OK.;)  So far, awesome performance from their products!

Larry Perkins

Kip,

The Clarke Toaster and MC5 tank are for sure different as the toaster was designed for the big backbone of the GS and the MC one for the smaller triangle build of the MC5.

Thanks Kip,

I'll see if I can get Clarke to send me some photos with the dimensions of the tunnel on the tank.

I want to preserve my original tank for a 1977 Penton 250 GS6 and have been thinking about using a Clarke Tank and have been wondering if the tank below would fit. I will be racing this bike this season.

Yes, Mike Winter is correct. I wanted to preserve the original fiberglass tanks and installed the Clarke gas tanks on both of the 77 250GS6 bikes that my brother and I rode in the ISDT RR. I coated the inside with Caswells sealant on both before putting any fuel in them so the decals wouldn't peel off. The petcocks and petcock grommets can be purchased from Wicks Aircraft Supply for a very reasonable price. So far they have worked great.Hope this helps.

Dave,

Did you use the tank that in the link that I posted?
