I am looking forward to the swap meet tomorrow.  Keep in mind it is on Saturday...Feb. 19,2011    I spoke with a friend last night who was thinking it was this Sunday, instead of Saturday.

As always, Thank you Will Stoner for putting the swap meets on, always a great place to buy, sell, and bench race.

Yesterday's swapmeet went quite well and it was nice to visit with fellow POG members and old friends alike. Everyone seemed in agreement that there were many more attendees at this event.  It looks like Will's desire to run quality family oriented vintage events is paying off, and it was nice to see.

Another highlight for me yesterday was having Greg Troyan take me on a tour of Smith Road Raceway after the swapmeet. I have always heard great things about this track but have never actually been there.  Upon arrival at the gate I was instantly impressed with the park like setting, the mature trees and grassy areas give the place a look and feel that has me wanting to return as soon as possible with the bikes and my son and son-in-laws in tow.

Greg gave me a history lesson about the track that was pretty darn impressive. Many of you already know that the famous picture of Jack and Jeff Penton taking their Penton's off a jump side by side that is on the cover of the one of Penton brochures was taken at Smith Road. Greg and I hope to take that brochure and scout the track to see if we can possibly locate where the photo was taken. I mentioned to Greg that a historical marker should be erected on that site :)

All in all it was a great day, thanks again to Will Stoner and Family for putting on such a nice event, and thank you Greg for the great tour and history lesson.
