Six Day parts wanted

Hey all...Im looking for the two braces that run from the frame(under the seat/tank area) to the bolts behind the cylinder,these are for a 72 CMF six day..It seem I never see these on pics of these bikes but there must be some out there...Thanks in advance,Ken

Ken,

You never see them because they came without them.  They were available but I never saw any racers running them in "The Day".

I went and took a look at my spare parts manual #003 for a CMF 125 six day. It does not show or list these braces in the manual so they probably weren't used with the Sachs engine. The KTM engine bikes like the Jackpiner and Harescrambler did use them however. Maybe someone else can someone else verify this ??

Thanks...I thought they were standard equipment and most pulled them off to save weight...I developed several small cracks around the frame and thought they would add some overall strength....Ken

There were some available for the Sachs motor but not stock.

Guys,

they did come stock on early 72's
my origional 72 still has them on it,
i can say one thing, i have never seen them listed for sale anyware !!

Ken,
The first 2 , 72 Sachs engine 100/125 Pentons we picked up from JP in March at Daytona had the engine struts. They both had 6 A motors with points ignition.


1973 Valdosta Ga. Enduro
Me ( 72 125 ), Marty ( 73, 125 ) and Chuck Wicker ( 250 )

 I dont remember if we got any more that year that had them.
You can adapt the early 175 struts to work.

Thanks for all the great info...if someone does locate a set pleas let me know...I might fab a set out of aluminum for the heck of it although the will have to be two piece and TIG welded together...Thanks again and you guys are full of great knowledge...Ken

Ken,
  I have one side and if you fab any I would like a set.  The original Steve Wise Penton I had had them and he needed them.  Others Pros in the Houston area had them and would keep them when they changed bikes.  I never had a new one that had them on from the dealer, but I do believe that the picture that John D. has proves that they did come on some bikes.

Button shirt is pretty classy, but I seem to remember a guy who wore a tux every year at the Alligator Enduro...(atleast I think it was Alligator....my memory fails)

Maybe someone else remembers it too.

I put them on all my restos in the past, same as the KTM engined bikes.  Most folks removed them to work on the carb/airbox easier, thats how they got lost!

Hello,  My 74 Penton Berkshire which I purchased from Penton/Honda in Amherst, Ohio (John Penton's shop) came with the frame to engine braces.   They came off the first time I needed access to the carburator, put them on the shelf, and there they stayed.   I should have re-installed them.  My frame develeped a small hairline crack in the front down-tube gusset.   I believe some of these items such as these brackets were added at the shop during set-up, but cannot verify it.   Joe
